Gender Differences And Influencing Factors Of Returning Migrant Workers’ Employment Status

Under the background of the national implementation of the rural revitalization strategy,returning migrant workers are the main force for rural revitalization.This paper uses a combination of questionnaire survey and field interviews to study the gender differences in the employment status of returning migrant workers in Z village of Hunan Province.Through the analysis of data statistics and interview,the study found that the gender differences in employment behavior and employment willingness of returning migrant workers are significant.Men are mainly non-agricultural employment,women are mostly idle at home,male employment rate and non-agricultural employment rate are higher than women.Men mainly rely on social relationships such as friends,relatives and family members to get jobs,and women mainly rely on themselves and their families to obtain jobs.The types of industries in which men are engaged are mainly in the construction,retail and catering industries,and the types of industries in which women are engaged are mainly in the retail,agricultural and catering industries.The professional status of men are mainly bosses,casual workers,mobile traders,and the professional status of women are mainly farmers,individual industrial and commercial households,and mobile traders.The types of industries that men want are mainly in the construction,agriculture,and retail industries,and the types of industries that women want are mainly in the manufacturing,retail,and catering industries.The professional status that men want are mainly the boss,employed by others and casual workers,and the professional status that women want are mainly employed by others,individual industrial and commercial households and mobile traders.The main factors affecting the employment status of migrant workers returning from different genders mainly include personal factors,family factors and social factors.By studying the gender differences and influencing factors of the employment situation of returning migrantworkers,it is helpful to urge the government to introduce special employment policies and measures to support the development of returning migrant workers,especially to increase the support for female returning migrant workers,promote the gender equality of returning migrant workers ’ employment,and promote the implementation of the new Socialist rural construction and rural revitalization strategy.
