The idea of STEM education is an integrated concept.It aims at developing learners' critical thinking and problem solving skills,thus it advocates people to tackle real world problems with engineering thinking,by using science,mathematics knowledge and advanced technology.As a kind of higher-order thinking,engineering thinking is the ability to use various knowledge skillfully to solve kinds of practical problems in a planned way.However,after sorting out relevant research result of cultivating engineering thinking,we found that the existing research fitting on primary science curriculum standards needs to be carried out.Moreover,from the perspective of teaching practice,the current engineering education in the elementary education stage remains weak,and teachers lack of guidance of effective activity model.Faced with these problems,the writer finished the training activity model of engineering thinking that is guided by the idea of STEM education,by integrating the common parts of guided primary science curriculum standards,the implementation path of STEM education and knowledge of engineering implementation.The model fully reflects the integration and continuity of the primary school students' engineering thinking cultivating activities,including four stages: engineering decision-making,engineering design,engineering implementation and engineering achievement display.Each stage has a specific design of students' activities and teachers' activities.After analyzing the teaching objectives,teaching contents and learners,the writer designed three practical teaching activities.These teaching activities based on the training activity model of engineering thinking that are guided by the idea of STEM education and the teaching facilities are building block educational robots and Scratch.The learning feedback of engineering thinking activities on the ability of solving problems with engineering thinking and the students' emotional attitude was obtained by teacher evaluation,self-evaluation and engineering record.Research results show that the training activity model of engineering thinking that is guided by the idea of STEM education can promote the training activity of engineering thinking.The engineering thinking training activity can achieve the set teaching objectives,promote students' cognitive development in knowledge and skills,and can make improvements in students' emotion and attitude.
