A Study On History Extracurricular Activities Carried Out By Baotou Vocational School Of Mechanical Industry

In the competitive 21^st century,when the government pays more and more attention to the vocational education and promotes reforms in the area,it is very demanding to the students'professional skills and comprehensive quality.This paper is an investigation of history teaching in Baotou Vocational School of Mechanical Industry.It analyzes in different means on the reason of why the school attaches great importance to extracurricularactivities to strengthen history teaching.First of all,it's very important for the school to improve the quality of the students,so our humanistic quality education should be carried out by setting explicit and implicit courses.However,on the other side,in the reform of the curricularsystem,professional classes are extended and history classes are removed.It will lead to the students'historical knowledge and culture deficiency,and further more lack of humanistic literacy.This is against the school's educational goal and the social demands for well-rounded person.Therefore,it is urgent to find achievable ways to develop students'historical cultureliteracy.In the end,the survey shows that students and teachers all support the extracurricular activities to promote history teaching in the school.Through the positive preparation,we have got the support of the school,completed the student recruitment registration and determined the direction and content of the teaching plan.In order to achieve our teaching objective,we use the situational teaching method and so many different kinds of teaching method in the implementation process.Finally we use proper ways to give students a comprehensive evaluation and the real evaluation.Through one year's teaching practice,there are both effects and shortcomings.It can be seen that history teaching has an obvious effect on the improvement of students'personality,self-confidence and various aspects of ability,as well as the establishment of a new type of teacher-student relationship.However,the deficiency is also obvious.In the activities we find out some problems,such as lack of teachers,defectiveness of teaching ability,teaching content and form are not rich enough and insufficient attention to history study.Finally,we put forward reasonable opinions and suggestions.Hopefully,education department and the school can provide more support to the development of these extracurricular activities to manage them orderly and help teachers improve their self-cultivation and ability in all aspects.This study will put forward an operable plan to develop students'historical literacy in the school.
