The new curriculum reform emphasize on strengthening the relationship between course content and student life as well as current social science and technology development,and paying attention to students' interest in geography learning.Guiding and inspiring students to discover geographic issues in life is a very important part of the teaching process.The local geographical knowledge teaching is a significant process to cultivate students' curiosity about geographical things and phenomena,and to stimulate students' aesthetic interest in geography.The local geography is close to life,and is easy to understand,as well as helpful to establish a correct value of the environment,resources and humanities of students.This research mainly uses literature research method,questionnaire survey method,case method and inductive method to study how to effectively use the knowledge of the local geography to cultivate students' interest in geography learning and how to implement it.The main content has the following aspects:1.Based on the questionnaire survey and analysis results about the students' interest in learning geography and the local geographical knowledge,the geographical content of junior high school and the local geographical knowledge of AR HORQIN were analyzed.According to the survey and analysis,there are relatively many students who like geography,but a few of them study geography in order to cope with the examination.Students' attitude towards geography learning is passive.They actively contact with geography.There are few people who study geography and few people who read geography books after class.Moreover,students have little knowledge of local geography.Objectively speaking,the basic situation of Arukhorqin Banner is poorly understood in terms of physical geography and human geography.2.Using the knowledge and materials of local geography,four case teachings such as “Reading of Maps”,“Settlements”,“Topography and Topography” and “Agriculture” were designed.That is to say,in the classroom teaching,the maps,ancient city ruins and topographical features of the AR HORQIN are used to attract students' interest in studying geography and teach.Making full use of the local geography knowledge and materials is conducive to improving and training students' ability to collect knowledge and investigate geographical things.3.The paper designs four case teachings and carries out implementation and analysis.The advantages and disadvantages of using the local geographical knowledge in classroom teaching are summarized.It is concluded that whether for improving the students' enthusiasm for learning and optimizing the students' learning effect,or the teaching goal of the new curriculum reform,it is very practical value to learn the knowledge of the local geographical knowledge.
