| From the beginning of time to today,people’s pursuit of happiness has been relentless.We are entering a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics.As people’s living conditions have improved,it’s not only the leaders of the party and the country that are paying more attention to the happiness of their people,but the ordinary working-class people are now expecting a better life leading to an expectation of more happiness.The occupational well-being of teachers is important for teachers themselves and affects the growth of students and the development of schools.The female teachers in primary and middle schools in urban and rural areas are the main force to promote the balanced development of education in urban and rural areas and it is essential to focus on their occupational well-being.In this thesis,231 female teachers in urban and rural areas in H city were selected to participate in survey by answering a questionnaire on their status of occupational well-being and 20 teachers were selected to participate in an interview process to obtain more information about the teachers’ occupational well-being.The results are as followings:First,it was found that the general level of occupational well-being of female teachers in primary and middle schools in the urban-rural fringe is relatively low.Secondly,the overall difference in the age of the teachers,their educational background,the grade they taught,the subjects they taught,and their monthly income is significant.In comparison,the overall difference in teachers’ position and marital status is insignificant.Thirdly,the main reasons for this group of female teachers in primary and middle schools in urban and rural areas for achieving occupational well-being are: the unique winter and summer vacations of teachers,the simple and regular working life,the stability of teachers’ job,the joy of teachers’ professionalism and the sense of accomplishment from students,the teachers’ professional love.Fourthly,the main reasons for the lack of occupational well-being of female teachers in primary and middle schools in urban and rural areas are: the low wages and social status,complicated student resources and inadequate parental support,high expectations and dual role pressure,rigid school management and too much non-teaching workload,few ways to obtain learning resources and limited personal development.When finishing the analysis of the survey results,three main suggestions came to light to improve female teachers’ occupational well-being in urban and rural areas.On the social aspect,reasonable expectations for teachers should be established and the prestige of female teachers in primary and middle school should be increased,teachers should be guaranteed to get their wages according to the regulation and the channels for school fundraising should be enlarged.On the school aspect,humanistic management should be carried out and the welfare treatment for female teachers could be enhanced,the effective communication with parents and the community should be strengthened.As for the teachers themselves,they are supposed to hold a positive attitude and experience the happiness from the professional identity,enhance professionalism and seek happiness from self-development,improve the relationship with students and feel the happiness in a harmonious relationship,balance family roles and gain happiness from family warmth. |
