The free flow of university teachers will not only bring dynamism to the ecology of academic works,but will also benefit the combination of the internal appeals and external requirements of teacher professionalism.Therefore,to investigate into the relationship between the flow of university teachers and their individual academic development entails a meaningful topic on the background of current national strategy for building world-class universities and subjects.The current study used Internet-based database through the combination of teacher professional resume and literature review methodologies.In the procedure,the researcher also look into the social flow and teacher professional circulation,in the meantime investigate current situation of university teacher flow and academic output to make comparisons by the indicator of teachers’ characteristics,learning background and social flow experience,aiming to uncover the relations between academic professional flow and university teachers’ academic output.This study found that the research-focused university teachers in China displayed a low level of social flow averagely.Among the teachers,those teachers who are in the humanistic and social discipline,with more teaching experience and higher professional title and more disciplinary structure experience social flow more.For young teachers,they prefer to professionally flow internationally while middle-aged teachers tend to flow within China;teachers without overseas learning experience tend to flow in China,however,those who have been further educated overseas tend to flow internationally.When it comes to the academic output,teachers who are older with higher professional titles have more academic works.Teachers with disciplinary structures produce less than those who have disciplinary structure.In natural science discipline,teachers aged between 35~45,with higher professional titles output academically more.As for the quality and academic influence of teachers’ researches,teachers with no disciplinary structure but with overseas learning background possessed papers cited more.The new implication of the study is that it determined the effects of teacher professional flow times and types on teachers’ academic outputs.The times of teachers’ social flow won’t influence the quantity their academic works,however,the quality of teachers’ academic works will be positively influenced by their social flow;the flow types exert significantly positive influence their academic work quality.Meanwhile,these teachers with research experience abroad showed more academic influence compared with those without.
