The reading of literary classics is becoming more and more important in the course of our primary and secondary school.Since 2008,the reading of literary classics has been included in the additional questions of Chinese in Jiangsu college entrance examination.There are heated discussions as to whether the original intention of reading literary classics can be maintained in the utilitarian college entrance examination system.In this thesis,according to the problems in the teaching of literature,combined with my own teaching practice,a field survey concerning the literary classics reading is carried out.On the basis of the results of the survey,the thesis analyzes the reasons for the problems that occur during the teaching of literature and actively explores better solutions.The thesis is composed of five parts.The first part is the introduction to the reading teaching of literary classics in senior high school.Based on my own teaching practice and referring to some relevant documents,the thesis is intended to introduce the current situation of the reading teaching of literary classics.Furthermore,the research methods and the significance and value of the research are included in this part.The body of the thesis is from the second part to the fourth part.The second part makes a comprehensive introduction to the national requirements for the literary classics reading of high school students and the basic requirements in the outline of Jiangsu college examination.Besides,this part analyses the contents of literary classics reading for high school students.A profound explanation of the significance of literary classics reading for high school students is also included in this part.Based on the first two parts which involve the introduction to the background,content and significance of the literary classics reading,the third part introduces an in-depth investigation regarding the present situation of the learning of literary classics and the problems occurring in the examinations.According to the investigation,the reasons for these problems are analyzed in detail.The fourth part introduces some effective strategies put forward from the perspectives of teachers,high school students and the authorities concerned.The fifth part is the conclusion of the thesis.Through the investigation and the analysis as well as the strategies for solving the problems mentioned in the third part,there is a more profound understanding of the teaching of literary classics of the additional questions in the college entrance examination.
