Intervention Study On Social Work For Migrant Women From Gender Perspective

Since 2010,D city government has purchased social work services.Migrant workers,who account for 70% of the population of D City,are one of the social work service groups.Since2010,H Town in D City has purchased social work services for migrant workers,and a social work station for migrant workers has been set up in B Community,including casework and other services for migrant women.Since the developing of the social services,the social workers at the service station have actively explored the social work services for migrant women in B Community.However,in the past,the social work interventions of migrant women generally lacked theory of gender,and only focused on the unilateral problems of migrant women,neglecting male and both participation,the effect of intervention was low.This study mainly uses the case methodology.As a social worker of the social work station of migrant workers in B community,the author participated in the social work services of migrant women from July 2014 to January 2017,obtaining specific case data through in-depth observation,interviews and interventions.This study basing on Moser’s gender analysis framework of Tool 1(Gender Role Determination),Tool 2(Gender Needs Assessment)and Tool 3(Resource Domination and Decision-making in the family),conducted gender analysis on migrant women from four aspects: internalization and externalization of problems,identification of gender roles,resource domination and decision-making in the family,gender needs assessment,putting forward the intervention strategy of social work for migrant women with gender sensitivity which including narrative deconstruction and reconstruction,satisfying practical gender needs and strategic gender needs,female participation and male participation,meanwhile,the intervention was carried out by the author.Intervention effects are as follows:the practical gender needs of migrant women are met;the gender division of migrant women’s family changes;the daily active life experiences of migrant women are re-established;and migrant women re-examine their status as women.This study,through interventions on social work services of migrant women,found that in this case,The satisfaction of migrant women’s strategic gender needs taking precedence over practical gender needs;the role of migrant women’s producers conflicts with the role of reproducers;the extent of male participation affects intervention effectiveness.At last,the intervention concept of social work services for migrant women women-oriented or family-oriented,the applicability of Moser’s gender analysis framework on social work services for migrant women,and the applicability and limitations of social work interventionstrategies for migrant women and so on were discussed.
