Recent years have seen increasing popularity of children's picture-book in the market.Top-notch picture-book from all over the world,including original works published in China,have come within people's horizon.Creators of good picture-book convey emotions through rich pictorial information,which in turn transforms the concrete illustrations into imagery forms and guides readers to discover the beautiful things depicted in these books via keen observation and rich imagination,thereby cultivating aesthetic literacy,improving aesthetic taste,and facilitating the all-round development of children.Thus,picture-book have been adopted by a large number of teachers as a medium in teaching.In this paper,a practical study on how picture-book are applied in fine art teaching targeted at lower elementary school grades was conducted,and recommendations were proposed based on the specific cases of teaching practices.This paper is outlined into five chapters:In Chapter 1,a revision of domestic and foreign literature on the topic was conducted in order to summarize the development trend of relevant research and presented the significance,content,and methodology of the study.In Chapter 2,the concepts of “picture-book”,“lower elementary school grades” and “picture-book instruction” are defined.In the meantime,the value of picture-book in the fine art teaching for lower elementary school grades was explored.A questionnaire survey was conducted to examine the students' interest in learning through picture-book and the current status of picture-books-aided teaching,after which the data generated by the survey were summarized.In Chapter 3,the strategies to practice picture-books-aided fine art teaching were explored,which mainly encompass the strategy of selecting good picture-book,the procedural strategy to facilitate the co-reading(collaborative reading)of picture-book between students and teachers,and the variety of forms for the practice of picture-books-aided fine art teaching in lower elementary school grades.Chapter 4 provides the practice cases in which picture-book were utilized in different domains of learning,and explores the teaching designs to apply these books in fine art teaching for lower elementary school grades,through teaching practice.Chapter 5 outlines the summary and reflections of this paper.
