Mae Salong Region is one of the most typical areas in the development of Chinese language education in Northern Thailand.The particularity of the identity of the local Chinese education pioneer,the influence of the external political situation and the change of the support from all sides are the important factors that affect the development and change of Chinese education in Mae Salong Region.On the basis of the implementation time of the Thai government's policy towards Chinese schools and the former Kuo Min Tang(KMT)solitary army,the Chinese education established by the former Kuo Min Tang(KMT)solitary army in Mae Salong Region can be divided into three periods: the initial and vigorous development period(1963-1972),the nature transformation and discontinuation period(1973-1992)and the revival and stable development period(1993-present).In terms of school management and teaching,insufficient funds,lack of qualified school leaders and teachers,inappropriate curriculum arrangement and selection of teaching materials are negative factors for the development of local Chinese education.Therefore,in order to develop Chinese education of Mae Salong Region,first,we should support the economic independence of the school thereby drive the overall economic development of the Mae Salong Region.Second,organize the communication forum of Chinese language and culture with the Thai language school.Third,fix the shabby teaching equipment in order to avoid unnecessary economic pressure to the school temporarily.Forth,stipulate the working standards of school leaders and teachers and conduct targeted training.Fifth,cultivate the minds of outstanding students for Chinese education services and encourage them to work as Chinese teachers.Sixth,Compile a set of localized Chinese textbooks and use the current mandarin textbook Guowen as the reading textbook.Seventh,carry on the mathematics teaching by the review way,and increase math knowledge that can be used in the student daily life frequently or possibly.The above measures can effectively help local Chinese education development and improve teaching efficiency.
