As China’s urbanization process continues to accelerate,the issue of urban integration has received much attention.China-Africa exchanges have a long history.Especially after the establishment of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum in 2000,China-Africa relations are closer,and the number of African students in China is growing.Under the dual driving force of building a smart city and promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Africa,the issue of urban integration of African students is becoming more and more important.From the perspective of communication and sociology,this paper explores the urban integration of international students from Guangdong and Africa.In the research method,a one-to-one semi-structured interview method is used.From the four perspectives of economic adaptation,cultural acceptance,social behavior and identity,the interview outline was designed.Through interviews with African students from China,the situation of Guangzhou urban students in China was found as follows: Strong economic adaptation and urban integration The material basis is good;the cultural acceptance is good and the empathy is strong;the social behavior integration has the initiative and individual differences;the identity cognition takes into account the dual image of students and businessmen,the city There is a significant difference in the sense of belonging.Advantages of integration include government support for policy support and social services,convenient transportation,complete mobile APP software,social networking,rich campus cultural activities,diverse language choices,and Chinese film and television art.There are three disadvantages: identity tags,lower Chinese proficiency,and the natural climate of Guangzhou.The study also found that African students show a unique group image in the process of urban integration: first,the city has a strong willingness to integrate,initiative and tolerance;second,the material support of urban integration is better,lack of emotional support;Third,with the passage of time,the sense of urban integration has gradually increased;fourth,African students have different feelings about the city of Guangzhou.With the development of new media technologies,the urban integration of African students has gradually formed a cultural system of communication and acceptance.In the process of cross-cultural communication,new media technologies have played a significant role.As an intercultural dialogue,the urban integration of African students is a comprehensive and interactive process of cultural thinking.Finally,the author puts forward the following suggestions on how to improve the integration of international students from the four aspects of Chinese students,international students,campus culture and urban construction: avoid stereotypes,enhance the respected experience of international students;cultivate good cognition,form a positive integration attitude;enrich the campus Activities to enhance the intercultural communication skills of international students;promote urban construction and build a smart living place.
