A rural teaching school is a small-scale,incomplete school based on combined instruction to adapt for the rural areas in China.From a historical point of view,rural teaching schools bear the educational responsibility of national ideology in the village,and have made important contributions to rural basic universal compulsory education and basic elimination of illiteracy among young and middle-aged people.However,since 2001,the “cancellation and integration of teaching schools” has been implemented,and a large number of rural teaching schools have been closed,which led to a long journey to school for rural children,center elementary school equipped with school bus,school bus safety,the problem of students drop out of school and etc occur from time to time.In 2012,the relevant documents issued by the State Council claimed to stop the behavior of “cancellation and integration of teaching schools” in rural teaching schools,and restored some rural teaching schools gradually.By 2017,there are more than 1,000 rural teaching schools in Gannan.But lots of teaching schools are still in a dilemma between survival and development.This article is based on the current situation of the rural teaching schools in Gannan,and use case study method to explore the development strategy of rural teaching schools.This article follows research approach of “problem-measures”.Based on the analysis of the persistence of the objective and social functions of the rural teaching schools in Ganan,through the perspective of the teaching practice in Nantang Town,Ganxian District in Gannan,and explores the targeted strategies for the development of the rural teaching schools in Gannan,helping he rural teaching schools in Gannan get out of the real predicament.The paper holds that the development of rural teaching schools in Gannan needs to be promoted from the three aspects of government,school,and society.The government should fully understand the value of teaching schools,vigorously improve the teaching conditions for schools,increase investment of education funds,and strive to promote the balanced development of urban and rural compulsory education;teaching schools must have education confidence,improve education management,strengthen education and teaching reform,promote education supervision and inter-school alliances,promote the construction of teaching staff,and ultimately promote the improvement of education quality in teaching schools to meet the needs of enjoying fair and quality education for rural children.As schools embedded in villages,teaching schools should be closely linked with parents,makethe best use of their function of inheriting and developing local culture,actively participate in the construction of communities,and strive to obtain the support of rural society.
