Peer teaching method, founded by Professor Mazur of Harvard University in the United States, has been proved to be able to promote students' autonomous learning and cooperative learning in college physics classes in China, thus improving students' mastery of physical knowledge. As a very difficult but very important subject in senior high school, how to improve the drawbacks of traditional physics classroom teaching and how to better carry out physics classroom teaching has always been a problem that education researchers constantly explore. This paper studies the theory and practice, and introduces the current development, basic situation, implementation process and related matters needing attention of peer teaching method in theory.Through questionnaires and interviews,it is found that the students in grade one of senior high school are not satisfied with the traditional teaching methods of physics, and they are eager to introduce new teaching methods. In practice, the peer teaching method is applied in the teaching design of the section "Newton's Third Law" in senior high school, and then the practical research is carried out in the classroom teaching. Finally, the degree of mastery of physical knowledge in the experimental class and the control class is understood by the method of classroom testing. The test results of two classes show that the peer teaching method can improve students' knowledge of physics. At the same time,it can promote discussion and exchange among students, mobilize students' enthusiasm for classroom participation, and stimulate students' interest in physics.
