With the gradual perfection of educational psychology and teaching theory,more and more people are aware of the importance of art education.And the vigorous rise of art education institutions outside school,with their rich and varied teaching contents and activities,has also promoted the development of children’s art education to a certain extent.The primary goal of children’s art education is not to cultivate children into artists.It is based on the integration of knowledge and deep experience and aims to help children form a rich personality,enjoy the pleasure of self-expression,improve their aesthetic ability,perception,expression,creativity and judgment,and therefore improve children’s learning ability.Many parents and educators do not have a clear understanding of the objective of this phase,so it is difficult for them to find suitable teaching and evaluating methods.According to child psychologists,children aged 7-9 are in a specific cognitive period,and their logical thinking ability of classification logic and relationship logic has started to emerge when they observe things and analyze problems,and their self-centered consciousness has been further weakened.Such a law of cognitive development determines that the art development of this period is in a graphic period,children are able to observe problems from other people’s point of view,view the world objectively,and no longer be self-centered.With a certain concept of space,children’s imagination is more vivid than before,so this period is an important turning point of the development of painting ability.This paper is based on a large number of psychological and pedagogical theories and the author’s own experience in teaching.By the thorough analysis of five typical teaching cases,it expounds how to formulate the art teaching method of this period and how to make an objective evaluation of the teaching effect.The paper also analyzes some problems in teaching and the disadvantages of art education outside school,puts forward some constructive suggestions,and finally comes to the conclusion that it is necessary to improve the quality of art education outside school and the quality of art teachers.This paper is divided into three parts:introduction,main body and conclusion.The introduction discusses the background,significance,definition of relevant concepts and the current research situation at home and abroad of the study of art education,which also provides the study with theoretical basis.Through five typical teaching cases,the main body describes how to formulate rightful teaching methods and teaching process for children aged 7-9 based on the characteristics of this period,evaluating various teaching methods objectively,and it also analyzes some problems in the teaching process and comes up with constructive solutions.Finally,the conclusion part outlines the bright future of art education outside school and the author’s great expectation on the implementation plan of children’s art education of children aged 7-9.
