As the indispensable parts of the History and Philosophy of Science,thought experiments have long been important research fields of science historians and science philosophers.With the deepening of research,the research achievements of thought experiments have gradually attracted the attention of science education researchers.Since the middle of the last century,foreign researchers have made extensive discussions on applying thought experiments in science education based on both theoretical and practical aspects.However,the research achievements of applying thought experiments in various subjects is still limited in China.Therefore,solving the issues that how to apply thought experiments in every branch of science curriculum is undoubtedly necessary and important,especially with the deepening of reform of the basic education science curriculum in China.In this project,by combing the advances of reform on high school physics curriculum with achievements of teaching research,discussing their applications to mechanics teaching in high school Physic.With the applications of thought experiments,the core disciplines of physics can be better reflected in the textbook,meanwhile,the realization of this goal can be further carried out in the teaching practice.Firstly,Systematically analyzing and summarize the previous research at home and abroad,further find gaps between these studies during comparison.Combined with China's particular teaching content and basic education curriculum reform,valuable experience can be summarized for reference.In this paper,analyzing the nature of thought experiments on three aspects: history of science,philosophy of science and psychology of science.On the basis of pedagogical theory and empirical researches of applying thought experiments in teaching,artical summarizes the educational function of thought experiment and provides solid theoretical support for the application of thought experiments to mechanics teaching in high school physics.Secondly,guided by the cultivation of the core disciplines of physics,proposing the guiding ideology and detailed approaches of the application of thought experiments to mechanics teaching in high school physics.By making a comprehensive analysis of the curriculum standards of high school physics and the mechanics content in current representative textbooks in China along with grasping the mechanics-related content in high school physics curriculum,laying a solid foundation for further exploring the applications to mechanics teaching in high school physics.Thirdly,thoroughly analyzing the typical cases of thought experiments applied in physics and mechanics teaching in high school.In order to achieve better teaching performance,the teaching projects are designed using strategy of thought experiments.The analysis of these cases can enable educators to have a deeper and more specific understanding to the educational function of thought experiments,which will also bring new opportunities for mechanics teaching in high school Physics.
