For a long time,Academic Procrastination of college students has attracted widespread attention. In the past, some scholars used the name from meteorology to call the phenomenon as the psychological typhoon eye effect. The closer they approach to dangerous period and the dangerous area, the calmer they are.Previous studies on the psychological typhoon eye effect mostly focused on disaster scenarios or social public safety scenarios.Such phenomena are common in life.In addition, the impact of ego-depletion on academic procrastination can be divided into two categories:ego-depletion increases academic procrastination or decreases academic procrastination. Therefore,it is valuable to study the academic procrastination and the psychological typhoon eye effect of college students under different degrees of ego-depletion.Based on the strength model of self-control and the Socioemotional Selectivity Theory,we carried out three experiments. The study takes the undergraduates of a university in Xi'an as the research object, and uses the State Self-Control Scale, the College Students Self-Control Scale, the Risk Preference Scale, the General Procrastination Scale, the Positive Affect and Negative Affect Scale and the Eye Effect of Psychological Typhoon questions to measure the degree of ego-depletion and procrastination and control the additional variables. At the same time, this study used Stroop Task and Balloon Analogue Risk Task to explore how ego-depletion affects academic procrastination and psychological typhoon eye effect of undergraduates. The results are as follows:(1)In academic procrastination scenarios, the number of procrastinators in each group decreased first and then increased from 1 to 5 groups.(2)The members of high ego-depletion group chose academic procrastination more when they were told that they were overworked, while the members of low ego-depletion group chose academic procrastination less when they were told that they were overworked.(3)Regardless of the degree of ego-depletion and whether or not they know they belong to the overworked group, the number of male students choosing to delay their homework is higher than that of female students.(4)Under the two scenarios of the length to the deadline and the load of the tasks, the number of academic procrastination decreased first and then increased from group 1 to group 5.In the two scenarios of the proximity of the relationship and the involvement degree, the number of academic procrastination increased continuously from group 1 to group 5.(5)In the scenario of the length to the deadline, with the increase of ego-depletion,the number of academic procrastination decreased first and then increased;in the scenario of the load of the tasks, with the increase of ego-depletion,the number of academic procrastination increased first and then decreased. The conclusions are as follows:(1)Psychological typhoon eye effect does exist in academic procrastination.(2)Individuals with a higher degree of ego-depletion are more likely to delay their studies when they know that they are in an overworked state.Individuals with lower degree of ego-depletion are less likely to delay their studies when they know they are overworked.(3)Regardless of the degree of self-depletion and whether or not they know they belong to the overworked group, the degree of Academic Procrastination of boys is significantly higher than that of girls.(4)The psychological typhoon eye effect of academic procrastination exists in two scenarios:the length to the deadline and the load of the tasks;the psychological typhoon eye effect of academic procrastination does not exist in another two scenarios:the proximity of the relationship and the involvement degree.(5)In the scenario of the length to the deadline, with the increase of ego-depletion,the psychological typhoon eye effect of academic procrastination first weakens and then intensifies;in the scenario of the load of tasks, with the increase of ego-depletion,the psychological typhoon eye effect of academic procrastination first intensifies and then weakens. If homework is not theirs,it is not easy to have the psychological typhoon eye effect of academic procrastination. If homework is theirs,it is easier to have the psychological typhoon eye effect of academic procrastination.
