In recent years, with the acceleration of China's aging process, the pressure of social pension in China is increasing. At the same time, with the deepening of the reform and opening-up,China's urbanization process is steadily advancing. In order to pursue a better life, some young people choose to work and settle down in the city.Along with the social competition and the pressure of life, especially the problem of child care and economic burden,so that many young people hard to balance family and career.Due to the dual consideration of the need to provide for the aged and relieve the pressure on the children, many elderly people have to leave their homes and join the floating army.Serving this research, the author defined “in order to help the children and take care of the third generation, migrating from the rural area where they have lived for a long time to the city where their children work and live, and the residence time is more than half a year and at the age of 50 or over aged people” as urban "elderly immigrants".At present, the scale of urban "elderly immigrants" in China's cities is growing, and their social adjustment problems are becoming more prominent.Under the guidance of relevant literature and adult education theory, this paper uses questionnaire survey and in-depth interview to investigate the social adaptation of the urban "elderly immigrants" from four dimensions, such as economy, culture, interpersonal relationship and psychology. After sorting and analyzing,it is found that there are many common problems in urban "elderly immigrants",such as involution of social interaction, difficulty in removing negative emotions, difficulty insurmounting cultural barriers and lack of self-development consciousness.According to relevant research, adult education has the function of promoting social integration of vulnerable groups.Based on the results of the questionnaire and in-depth interview, the author finds that the urban "elderly immigrants" who have participated in adult education have a higher degree of social adaptation than urban "elderly immigrants" who have not participated in adult education. In order to improve the social adaptation level of the urban "elderly immigrants",this paper based on the perspective of adult education, and puts forward relevant suggestions from the following four aspects, such as carrying out social communication education to enhance social capital, strengthening mental health education to enhance psychological adaptability, strengthening urban cultural education to enhance urban cultural identity, cultivating correct leisure values and enhancing self-development awareness.
