STEM education is a STEM education strategy advocated by the United States in order to cultivate comprehensive talents for the future society and to promote the national competitiveness.After more than 30 years of development,STEM education has been gradually extended from the initial focus on higher education to early childhood education,and the educational connotation has been gradually improved with the development.The essence of STEM education is comprehensive education of science,and its typical characteristics are interdisciplinary,integrated and practical.After entering China,many education researchers and front-line teachers have combined STEM education with existing science education,which is not only the innovation of science education,but also the innovation of the whole education system.At present,most primary and secondary school education and some related researchers of early childhood education have begun to carry out a full range of studies.STEM education in kindergarten is in the initial stage of development,and most studies on STEM education focus on theme activities or project activities with scientific activities as the carrier,which promote each other.In the past,early childhood science education was characterized by formalization of teaching process and emphasis on acquisition of knowledge and skills.Now kindergarten science education gradually emphasizes the experiential,operational and practical nature,which requires respect and satisfaction of children’s learning characteristics.STEM education has the characteristics of integration and practicality.It aims to solve practical problems in children’s life and takes children’s operational learning as the process.STEM education is an important development carrier of fiuture scientific education for children.In order to get rid of the disadvantages of traditional science education as a mere formality,it is necessary to integrate science education into new and comprehensive STEM education methods and explore more scientific and reasonable practice models of STEM education teaching activities in early childhood.This study combined project teaching method,scientific engineering practice theory and 4C teaching mode to try to explore the more practical value of early childhood STEM teaching mode and strategy in action research.This study strictly abided by the process of "planning--implementation--reflection--replanning" of action research,set up a special research group,designed and organized nearly 30 activities with three themes(this paper only presents some activities of one theme).The first action research mainly solves the following problems:under the condition of breaking away from the traditional teaching form,teachers and children jointly carry out the possible problems in STEM activities under the project-based teaching method,analyze the nature of the problems,and propose solutions to the post-stage test activities.The second action study solves the following problems:adopting the effective strategy of the first stage to carry out activities and testing the effectiveness of the strategy;At the same time,it analyzes and summarizes the observation and guidance strategies of the teachers in the exploration stage.The problem solved in the third stage is to construct and optimize a feasible model of STEM educational activities in PBL.Through the research,the following conclusions are drawn.First,STEM teaching in early childhood under the project-based teaching method enriches and innovates the connotation and form of traditional early childhood science education.Second,although STEM teaching for young children is in the development stage,a certain practice mode has been formed after the practical research on STEM teaching for young children,as well as strategies for teachers to interact and build learning supports.Thirdly,the STEM teaching activities in early childhood under the project-based teaching method should follow the basic process.This research include:scene import-clear problem-explore-test optimization-reflection evaluation-create extension and so on six big process,will be in the study of the scientific inquiry and problem solving ability,applied to other practical problems to solve the six links of medium,combined with the existing 4C teaching mode,adjust optimization infants STEM teaching mode.
