The cultivation of innovative compound talents is related to the strength of national competitiveness.In recent years,in order to improve the education level of the whole people,cultivate the high-quality talents needed for the development of society,and promote the comprehensive strength of the country,various countries have started to advance the education reform one after another.As a leading country in education field in the world,the STEM(Science,Technology,Engineering,Mathematics)education which is based on the training of high-tech talents in the United States has attracted extensive attention all over the world and has become a new navigation mark of the new round of education reform in various countries.China has also kept pace with the international education reform and begun thinking highly of the implementation of STEM education.In view of the fact that our country have not yet developed the STEM textbooks and it was feasible to incorporate STEM education idea into biology teaching,this paper refered to ST?@M pyramid structure from the American scholar,G.Yakman.From the perspective of STEM education,this paper maked a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the middle school biology textbooks that were most widely used,which was in order to understand the distribution of STEM knowledge points in the textbooks and the characteristics in presentation mode and content arrangement,also provide references for junior high school biology with STEM teaching ideas in textbook compilation,and provide the basis for the first-line teachers to carry out the biology teaching under the concept of STEM education.The research results showed that:(1)The STEM contents in the textbooks include four meta-disciplines and 26 specific disciplines.The knowledge points cover a relatively wide range,including scientific knowledge,supplemented by technical,engineering,and mathematical knowledge,but there is very little engineering knowledge;(2)STEM knowledge points are interspersed inthe texts,auxiliary columns,exercises,website links and other modules,and the images and contents are combined and presented in various ways;(3)The arrangement of STEM contents in the textbooks are noted that the integration within and between the meta-disciplines,as well as the progress between the high and low semester,which breaks the boundaries between disciplines and organically combines the knowledge points of different disciplines into one.Based on the research results,this paper puted forward the following suggestions to writers to reconstruct the junior high school biology textbooks and teachers to develop the STEM teaching in this subject: the compilation of biology textbooks should attach importance to the infiltration of engineering knowledge,optimize the presentation mode of STEM content,grasp the degree of STEM disciplines integration,increase the open inquiry activities,pay attention to the connection with real life,improve career education,and make full use of the network platform;the teachers should set up the correct STEM education concept,excavate the contents of STEM education in the textbooks,construct the cooperative teaching system between teachers,develop the special activities of STEM education,and carry out diversified STEM education evaluation.
