Reading is the foundation of learning,also,is one of the core elements of self-study ability.The mathematical reading is often ignored by people,but the increasingly mathematically oriented society makes people realize that the ability of read mathematics plays an important role in daily learning and life.This paper explores the current situation of mathematical reading ability of junior high school students through educational science research,then put forward improvement strategy.from teaching,learning and examining.On the basis of literature review of educational theories and policies,a qualitative and quantitative study is conducted on the current situation of junior middle school students'reading ability by questionnaire and educational test.The results of the questionnaire shows that junior middle school students have a positive understanding,attitude and motivation to mathematical reading;they could use some simple reading strategy,but existing the reading obstacles in reading more abstract content,lacking well reading habits;inattention and no reflection,adjusting the thought or transforming the problem more frequently during the reading process.Test results show that:as for the level of the recognition and internalization,most students can understand the meaning and the screening information,also can realize simple language translation;as for the level of the contact and understanding,most students can associate the content,process the information and fuse the cognition in a simple situation;as for the level of the reasoning and reflection,students are not enough to reflect on reading content and reading strategies,the ability to generalize also needs to be strengthened;as for the level of the development and application,the ability of students to apply mathematical reading to practical life is a little stronger than the ability to apply it to mathematics,but ability to do so has yet to be strengthened.For the above questions,this paper puts puts forward improvement strategy form teaching,learning and examining.In the end,this paper gives the summary and prospect,proposes the shortcomings and the direction of further research.
