Teaching for Understanding is a teaching mode devoted to students' real understanding of knowledge put forward by Harvard Zero Project Studio in the 1990 s."TfU teaching mode" is divided into four parts: heuristic topic,understanding goal,understanding activity and continuous evaluation.Each part is interrelated and progressive,"TfU teaching mode" conforms to the teaching idea of helping students form interdisciplinary knowledge concept in core biological literacy,actively adopting formative evaluation method,and promoting students to apply the knowledge they have learned to solve problems in life.But is TfU teaching mode suitable for biology teaching in senior high schools in China? Is it suitable for the teaching of Biology Compulsory 2 in Senior High School? How do teachers use TfU teaching mode to teach biology? It has become a problem waiting to be solved.Therefore,this study will take the second compulsory biology course in senior high school as an example,take the core concept of "TfU teaching mode",the standard requirements of each part and teaching methods as the theoretical basis,take the four components of "TfU teaching mode" as the standard interpretation of biology teaching,the difference between "TfU teaching mode" and conventional teaching,the content of teaching materials,the teaching design and routine based on "TfU teaching mode".The compilation of planning instructional design,teaching design based on "TfU teaching mode" and the implementation and result analysis of conventional instructional design are the main lines of the research,and the practical research on "TfU teaching mode" of high school biology is carried out.This research adopts the methods of literature,experiment and observation,and discusses the research process and conclusions in five chapters.Chapter one puts forward the research background,purpose and significance,content and method of this topic,and combs the research status of "TfU teaching mode" at home and abroad.Chapter two,the source,core concepts and four components of TfU teaching mode are elaborated through literature method.Taking high school biology as an example,how to put forward enlightening propositions,how to determine understanding objectives,how to design understanding activities,how to know whether students understand knowledge,and provide theoretical basis for the teaching practice of TfU teaching mode in high school biology.Chapter three,based on the literature method and taking the second compulsory biology course in senior high school as an example,combs the chapters of "TfU teaching mode",compares the differences between "TfU teaching mode" and conventional teaching,draws up the characteristics of "TfU teaching mode",and compiles the teaching design of "TfU teaching mode" for the second compulsory biology course in senior high school.Chapter IV Teaching practice through experiment and observation.Two classes with similar basic conditions are regarded as experimental class and control class respectively.The experimental class implements the teaching design of "TfU teaching mode",while the control class implements the conventional teaching design.The other conditions are the same.Before and after the implementation of "TfU teaching mode" in the experimental class,classroom observation is carried out according to the classroom observation scale,and the corresponding analysis is made.The use of "TfU teaching mode" can improve students' classroom participation and diversification of learning methods;the use of SPSS17.0 to deal with the end-of-term biological performance of the experimental class and the control class,the analysis shows that "TfU teaching mode" applied to the teaching of the second compulsory biology course in senior high school can improve students' biological performance.The fifth chapter draws the conclusion of this study,elaborates that "TfU teaching mode" can promote students' biology achievement and classroom learning behavior,and sums up the suggestions of using "TfU teaching mode" to compile teaching design and implement teaching.
