This thesis aimed to explore the coherence between the professional music teachers' education in colleges and the teaching of music in primary and secondary schools.A study was carried out on the professional music education in several colleges and some problems were further explored,analyzed and summarized.Some reasonable and practical suggestions were raised by the author in the end to better match the music education in colleges and the music teaching in primary and secondary schools.There are four components in this paper.The first chapter is introduction.The background information and the significance of the study was described clearly.Furthermore,the literature review were detailed discussed.The second chapter is the Historical Formation and Phenomenon of Professional Music Educators.First,the three stages that music education has went through was depicted: The Sprouting period of school music,the formation period of music teachers and the transitional period of music education.In this part,the author gave a vivid description about the changes of music teaching in primary and secondary schools.By comparing various music education attributes(e.g.academic system,training objectives,curriculum,enrollment status)of six colleges,a conclusion has been drawn that the music education in colleges didn't well support the music teaching in primary and secondary schools.The third chapter is the explosion and analysis of the problem.Different objectives and requirements of colleges and primary & secondary schools were mined through questionnaire.Secondly,the contents of music education such as theoretical knowledge and professional skills were analyzed and compared.At last,education practice,art practice and research practice were interpreted intensively.The fourth chapter is the study on the strategies for the coherence between the education of professional music teachers in colleges and the teaching of music in primary and secondary schools.Based on the scientific and practical characteristic of music major education in colleges,effective strategies were explored and further suggestions were put forward.
