The Changes Of Figures Reports Of Athletes Of China Sports Daily Since The Reform And Opening Up(1979-2018)

The reform and opening up policy led to rapid improvement and huge reformation for China society during the last forty years.At the meanwhile,sports newspaper also changes constantly as time goes by.China Sports Daily always renovates itself as society develops since established,which witnesses the developing history of Chinese sports.The evolution process and characteristics of sport reports in China Sports Daily were studied in this paper with a view of figures reports of athletes.298 figures reports of athletes in China Sports Daily were analyzed and researched from form to content,microcosmic to intermediate perspective,using sampling analysis,content analysis and text analysis.On the one side,the study found that figure reports of athletes are distributed evenly in different space of a whole page,pay more attention to athletes engaged in dominant traditional event in China or been the champion of national level or above,and report in a single form.On the other side,there is a decreasing trend in frequency of occurrence and number of it in China Sports Daily.With continuous development and change in sports and social formation,great changes happened in athlete characterization in China Sports Daily too,which from dreaming of winning honor for his country to distinct and lively sports model.In terms of narrative style,China Sports Daily also has changed from a strong political narrative style to a narrative style with both lyrical and discussion,and finally to a calm and objective narrative style.From the point of view of narrator and focusing mode,the distance between narrator and story is gradually increasing,which makes news more professional.Conclusions can be drawn from this study: the status of figures reports of athletes in China Sports Daily has been squeezed but not marginalized,and it became more professional.And the changes in character shaping reflects more humanistic concern than before.At last some advice were proposed to athlete figure report in China Sports Daily: Create the special character plate;increase the focus on non-dominant sport athletes;avoid only focusing on the champions;explore character characteristics in many ways.
