Chinese sports lottery industry has high sales volume,while the phenomenon of lottery customers indulging in buying lottery does exist.The lottery with high event frequency is very popular,and most people who interest in high-frequency lottery are problem gamblers.They are usually emotionally unstable,neurotic,and sensationseeking.It is a realistic problem for lottery managers to understand what kind of lottery tickets are more attractive and addictive,and which types of people are more likely to become problem players.It is extremely important to find measures to maintain the balance between economic and social benefits of lottery.Purchasing lottery is gambling actually.Previous studies have found that the high arousal level in gambling is closely related to the formation and development of gambling behavior.Games’ event frequency and the players’ temperament are likely to cause the player to generate different arousal levels,further affecting the betting behavior.Gambling games with high event frequency will cause high betting,and players who prefer high-frequency games will more easily develop into problem players,whether the high event frequency will cause high arousal levels during gambling,the research results are divided.In past studies,researchers mostly used subjective arousal measures and recruited experienced gamblers as subjects,which may be the reasons for the differences in research results.Moreover,foreign studies use slot machine games with a few seconds as experimental tasks,whose research results are not very applicable to China’s lottery market.Temperament is an early risk factor for gambling problems.Temperaments like neuroticism,sensational-seeking,emotional instability and impulsiveness are closely related to gambling age and gambling problem’s severity.Some studies have found that people with high anxiety and high impulsive characteristics produce higher levels of physiological arousal,but such studies are less and need to be further supplemented.In addition,players with different temperament characteristics have preferences in choosing different gambling games,but the preference is not reflected in the gambling arousal level.Event frequency is an important feature of game structure.Do players with different temperaments produce different arousal levels in different games with high and low event frequencies?This study used domestic issued high-frequency and low-frequency lottery games as experiment tasks.48 subjects without gambling experience participated in the experiment who attributed to one typical temperament types(Sanguine,mucus,biliary,and melancholic).EEG Δ,θ,and β band power are used to measure the physiological arousal levels before,during,and after the lottery games draw,to further speculate on the impact of the sports lottery’s event frequency and players’ temperament on the gambling behavior.Previous studies have found that players’ arousal in different periods of gambling is fluctuating.Therefore,this study measures the EEG activities before,during and after game.Results: 1.Event frequency and players’ temperament have no interactive effect on the gambling arousal.2.In the high-frequency lottery game,Δ and θ bands’ power values in the forehead area and the crotch area of the brain are significantly higher than those in the traditional low-frequency lottery.3.Temperament affects gambling arousal.Compared with Sanguine,mucus and biliary subjects,melancholic subjects had higher Δ and θ bands’ power values at the forehead,top,occipital,temporal,and central regions of the brain during gambling.4.After the draw,physiological arousal level was the highest.The Δ,θ,and β bands’ power values after the lottery are higher than those before the draw and during the draw.Conclusion: 1.Higher event frequency causes the player s’ higher gambling arousal.Lottery with higher event-frequency maybe more attractive.2.Players have higher arousal after the lottery draw.There is no interval between each issue of the highfrequency lottery,which provides the possibility to continue purchasing.This may be the reason for the high attraction of high-frequency lottery.3.Melancholic players with emotional instability and introversion have higher gambling arousal.4.The lottery manager should pay more attention to the scientific setting of the lottery frequency.And the interval between each period of high-frequency lottery should be set to avoid players blind continuous betting in the high arousal state after the draw.At the same time,Lottery management departments need to pay more attention to people with melancholic quality.More publicity and timely guidance are useful to prevent such people escaping reality and seeking excitement via buying lottery.
