As an important carrier of history curriculum content,history textbooks occupy an irreplaceable important position in our history education.History textbooks are not only the most basic,main and core reference texts and cultural resources for teachers to teach history,but also the basic basis and reading blueprint for students to learn history knowledge.At present,with the deepening of the reform of the new curriculum standard,the reform of textbooks has attracted more and more attention from the domestic history circles and the history education circles.This paper attempts to take the curriculum standards of American History and Social Sciences and textbooks of world history in middle schools as the object of study.From the perspectives of curriculum standards,content compilation,text system and auxiliary resources,and around the historical elements of the chapter “Colonialism and Expansion” and the compilation conception,it will discuss the related issues and the relevant chapters in the history of senior high schools in the People's Education Press of China.By comparing the basic structure with the section of history,this paper makes a thorough and systematic study of the similarities and differences between Chinese and American history textbooks,to deepen the understanding of the basic characteristics of American history textbooks for middle schools,and to reflect on the historical and cultural value and teaching practical significance of Chinese history textbooks.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly summarizes the background and current situation of the research on history education in American middle schools at home and abroad.The second part describes the historical narrative and interpretation of “Colonialism and Expansion” in Chinese and American history curriculum standards and textbooks.In the third part,starting from the specific texts,by comparing the textual structure and understanding system of the chapter “Colonialism and Expansion” between China and the United States,the differences between the two countries in compiling introduction,inserting icons in compiling textbooks,using historical materials in compiling textbooks and designing after-class problems in compiling textbooks are illustrated.The fourth part summarizes and summarizes the characteristics of American middle school history textbook writing by analyzing the ideological orientation,educational system constraints and educational goal setting of the differences between Chinese and American middle school history textbooks,and tries to put forward some opinions on the compilation theory and educational practice of Chinese middle school history textbooks.
