The British Empire,as the world's largest colonial empire,has a colony spanning many important countries and regions in the world today,including the United States,India,and China.The territories under its jurisdiction cover a wide area and a long governing time,which has a great impact on the development of world history,which shows its important position in history teaching.The British Empire also profoundly affected China's historical process,especially its far-reaching influence on modern Chinese history.However,China's existing textbooks ignore the overall presentation of the British Empire,which has led to the fragmentation of related content.The highly relevant content has been artificially split,affecting students'understanding of the related content.This shows the importance of integrating relevant content in the history of the British Empire in textbooks.History textbooks are an important carrier of a country's national education and worldview education.Its writing will reflect the country's mainstream ideology.By studying the content of the British Empire in British textbooks,we can not only understand the British concern about this history The emphasis is also of practical significance to our study of British external relations and British perception of the world.By comparing the history textbooks of Britain and China,we can more intuitively and deeply understand the differences between the education methods and educational concepts of Britain and China,and draw lessons from them that are beneficial to history teaching.Moreover,this difference can also allow us to understand the national identity and perception of the world behind it,and the country's attempt to cultivate a new generation of life outlook and values.This article intends to select the British GCSE History history textbooks and the Chinese Ministry of History textbooks as the research objects,and take the content related to the history of the British Empire in the history textbooks of the two countries as the research content.First,by comparing textbook styles,grasp the distribution of relevant content in the textbooks of the two countries as a whole;then,through the selection of specific lesson content and the comparison of text-assisted system design,analyze the specific differences in the content of the two textbooks.And summarize the different characteristics of the two textbooks in the corresponding content presentation,perspective the differences in teaching goals and concepts of the history textbooks of the two countries,with a view to improving the teaching of Chinese history textbooks on the Chinese Empire and the Chinese history process,and help students deepen their English Understanding and understanding of the history of empire,exploring a more efficient history classroom teaching method,and better serving the history teaching of middle school.This article contains the following five sections:Part one:This paper summarizes the development process of history curriculum standards in China and the UK,and compares the contents related to the history of the British empire in the two editions of textbooks.Part two and part three:Starting with the content selection and text-assisted system design,the two editions of the textbook" Early Colonial Expansion of the British Empire and the War of American Independence" and "India and Asia,Africa,and Latin America Independence Campaigns”.And analyze the differences between the two textbooks in terms of content selection,content preparation,use of historical materials,and design of exercises to better learn from their respective merits and serve the classroom teaching.Part four:Summarizing the previous comparative study of the two editions of textbooks,and draws on the experience that is beneficial to teaching practice,and then considers the optimization of teaching activities related to the British Empire and Chinese history in Chinese history textbooks.Conclusion part:through the comparison of the contents of imperial history between the two countries' history textbooks,it can provide reference and Enlightenment for the compilation and teaching of the corresponding contents in the textbooks of our country.In history teaching,we should pay attention to the cultivation of students' consciousness of studying national history,of understanding Chinese history in the context of world history,and of understanding national and world history from multiple aspects,which will help students form a good historical analysis ability.From the perspective of British Empire history,it can better serve the teaching of Chinese history and help to better understand the relationship between China and the world.
