As a qualitative evaluation method,portfolio evaluation of children is an important way to evaluate the kindergarten education.It provides strong evidence for the growth and development of young children by collecting all kinds of data of young children in a planned way.It also helps young children to know their self-development status better.Besides,parents can perceive the development of their children more intuitively and stereoscopically.Meanwhile,the data collected from the portfolio evaluation of children can also help the teachers to reflect on and improve their teaching,which plays a significant role for the development of teachers and kindergarten.In this study,122 teachers from 12 kindergartens in G city were investigated,and a questionnaire on the application of preschool education portfolio assessment was developed.Meanwhile,16 teachers from 12 kindergartens were interviewed and 12 sets of samples of preschool portfolio assessment were analyzed to understand the current situation and problems of preschool portfolio assessment.The main problems are: unclear goal of portfolio evaluation for children,unstandardized evaluation criteria,single subject of investigation,incomplete contents and methods of evaluation,and the lack of continuity.The reasons of these problems are: insufficient training and guidance of educational authorities,insufficient attention of teachers,unskilled teacher evaluation system,unreasonable student-faculty ratio and the the low parental participation.
