John Dewey(1859-1952),a famous American educator and philosopher who has had an extremely close relationship with China,John Dewey was invited to China in 1919 to begin his travels and lectures in China for more than two years,Set off a vigorous social change during that special period of history.It has been 100 years since the May Fourth Movement in 1919,and Dewey has been in China for a whole century.After 100 years,we continue to study Dewey,who has a special fate with China,to relive that period of more than two years of visit to China,to study Dewey's practical activities in China,and to see how pragmatism education is spread in China,which is the problem to be solved in this paper.This article is divided into five parts,the first part is the introduction of this article,including the research background,significance,the definition of basic concepts,domestic and foreign research status,research methods and the evaluation of the existing results.The second part first introduces Dewey's life and his pragmatism education thought,and secondly introduces the historical background of Dewey's visit to China,including international and domestic background.The third part discusses the spread of Dewey's pragmatism in China before his visit to China.In the four part,through the general activity trajectory of Dewey,this paper narrates Dewey's lecture itinerary in China,then presents Dewey's visit to China as a whole,then focuses on the contents of Dewey's two speeches,interprets his pragmatism thought,and takes Jiangsu as an example,details Dewey during his visit to China,Propaganda pragmatism education thought in Jiangsu.The V part expounds the dissemination and influence of Dewey's pragmatism education thought after his visit to China,including the influence in theory and practical application.
