Family is a fundamental unit of social organization and the earliest socialized site for individuals. The existing family structure and formation are already tremendously different from the traditional pattern implemented in the past. Therefore, there are also a lot of differences in the mode and attitude that parents adopt to bring up their children. The new form that contemporary families adopt to educate children has been known as parental education among many contemporary research scholars.Nowadays,as early education attracts increasing attention from the society,it is generally believed that infancy is a crucial period for physiological and intelligence development,as well as the formation of personality.Furthermore,an increasing number of “people born after the 90s” have become the primary group of infants’ parents.Since most of them are the only child in the family and they are not accompanied by any siblings during their growth, they manifest a lot of differences in the concept of bringing up children in comparison with the traditional pattern in the past. Therefore, the objective of this research lies in the research of the demand for parental education among the “post-90 s generation” who are the parents of children at 0 to 3 years-old.Their demand is considered as the starting point in this paper to thoroughly understand their concept of raising children and discuss how to effectively implement parental education, through which,a parental education system that’s suitable for young parents can be preliminarily established. The instrument that’s adopted in this research---Questionnaire on the Demand for Parental Education in Families with 0-3 Years-old Infants is revised based on the predecessors’ questionnaires. The respondents are 207 randomly selected “post-90s” parents with infants in various cities in China. The following conclusions are reached through the findings of the survey:(1)The overall demand for parental education held by the “post-90s” parents with 0-3 years-old infants is quite intense.(2)The degree of such demand is relatively high in various aspects, apart from social resources.(3)parents with different genders and education background hold different demands for parental education.(4)Different family structures and frequencies of participating in parental education exert certain influence on parents’ demand and satisfaction towards parental education.(5)Under practical circumstances, parents hold certain requirements towards the unit sponsoring parental education,as well as the professionalization and the form of parental education. In accordance with the conclusions of the research,it is believed by the researchers that Chinese parental education still needs to be further improved in many aspects, and other than paying attention to parents’ overall demand for parental education, social institutions and education authorities also need to focus on the pertinency and individualization of the content of parental education, and place an emphasis on the effectiveness and suitability of organizational form.Furthermore, parents need to reinforce their own knowledge, skills and internal accomplishments, and enhance their capability of discriminating infant-related information and become more self-motivated in the study of parental education. Thus, the parental education system can be improved through concerted efforts.
