"Region" is the most commonly used basic concept in geography, and it is also one of the main objects of study in geography. The geography course in junior high school is mainly based on regional geography teaching.Students have studied the world geography and Chinese geography one after another. The basic regional concept has been formed. After entering high school, students' learning of regional geography should no longer be confined to the description of a specific region.Instead, they should sum up the basic characteristics of the region and strengthen the cognition and analysis of typical regions. It is a process of applying theory to practice. It is a process that aims to guide students to “learn to apply”.Therefore,it is great significance for geography teachers to teaching high school regional geography. With the popularization of the Internet and the rapid development of geographical information technology,a wide variety of geographic information technologies can play a supporting role in geography teaching, mostlly GIS technology, with its unique spatial, intuitive, comprehensive and other characteristics.Strong analytical capabilities are in line with regional geography teaching requirements. Not only that,in the "Ordinary High School Geography Curriculum Standard(Experiment)" manuscript,GIS content has long been added to the high school geography required 3 course system. As a result,GIS content is not only an indispensable geography teaching content, but also an important aid in teacher teaching. This article first analyzes the status quo of GIS-assisted geography teaching by searching for references and reading related works of geography teaching.Based on this analysis,it concludes that it is suitable for the use of GIS technology through the analysis of the teaching materials for senior high school geography.Assist the content of high school regional geography teaching and finally design two specific teaching cases.Based on the above research, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1.The advantages of GIS-assisted regional geography teaching in senior high schools are: the comprehensive and spatial characteristics of geography teaching content in high schools and the requirements for geographic information technology literacy are in line with the characteristics of GIS technology;2.GIS software Among the powerful functions, the education functions suitable for geography teaching include: acquisition, input, editing, and storage of geographic data;buffer analysis, terrain analysis, and overlay analysis in spatial analysis functions;production of thematic maps and geography Data visualization display function.Third, the design steps of the teaching cases in this article provide certain references for geography teachers in making GIS-based geography teaching designs. The authors can debug and modify them according to their own needs. The study of GIS technology assisted high school regional geography teaching aims to highlight the perfect combination of GIS technology and regional high school geography teaching, and to increase geographical information technology and teaching methods for geography education, enrich teaching materials, and cultivate students' geographic information literacy.More is to use GIS technology as an aid to teaching tools. Therefore,in actual teaching,we must pay attention to the combination with the traditional teaching mode.We should not blindly "show off the technology" and ignore the essence of teaching.Of course,if the GIS technology is effectively applied, its teaching effect is unmatched by the traditional teaching model.
