Investigation On Introduction Of Linwu Straw Plaiting Into School-based Art Textbook Development

In recent years,more and more importance has been attached to develop students’ comprehensive ability by administration of art education in China.The New Curriculum of Elementary Education emphasize that education should be based on the development of students and reflect humanity.Folk art has not only the function of aesthetic education,it also develops students’ intelligence and is of great importance in education of traditional culture and morality.It’s safely to say that folk art plays an indispensable role in cultivating students’ practical ability and creativity.With accessible raw materials and interesting workmanship,more and more forms of folk art have been introduced to art education process so as to inspire students’ interests in art and achieve the educational goals of middle schools.Honored as “The Unique Handicraft of World”,Linwu fine grass matting in Hunan province is the treasure of folk art which has been listed as intangible cultural heritage of China.However,studies on Linwu straw plaiting are rare to find.Those limited studies only introduced its history and working process.Attentions of people involved in the working process can’t be found.As a precious resource of art education,introduction of straw plaiting can’t be found in the art textbook of middle school either.Therefore,based on the information above,this paper set its goals to introduce Linwu straw plaiting into art teaching materials of middle school.Through literature review,field research,individual interview and questionnaire survey,this paper found out the educational value of introducing Linwu straw plaiting into art classrooms of middle school and figured out the ways to put straw plaiting into school-based textbook compilation.At the same time,the author learned how to analysis textbooks and design an effective art class.
