The development of the executive function plays an important role in the individual's life and learning. The preschool period is the critical period for executive function.Based on the researches of the relationship between object control skills and executive function at home and abroad, this research explores the relationship between object control skills and executive function of 5-6 years old children. The object control group education related to basketball was selected to intervene executive function and object control skills of 5-6 years old children, which provides a new perspective for the study of executive function of exercise intervention programs on preschool children. The study was conducted from two aspects. In part ?,the participants were 66 children aged 5-6 years old from a kindergarten in Shanghai.Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency Second Edition(BOT-2)and executive function test tool were used to examined the development of object control skills and executive function of 5-6 years old children. Then, the correlation between the object control skills and executive function was explored. In part?,the principle of convenient sampling was adopted based on the results of part ?.24 children in the experimental group and 24 children in the control group were randomly selected among the children who had already been assessed. The control group performed activities according to the kindergarten's normal routines. An object control group education related to basketball was added to the experimental group, which was implemented 1-2 times a week, lasting 13 weeks. After finishing the interventions, the post-test of executive function and object control skills of the experimental group and the control group were performed to examine the effects of interventions.Meanwhile, all intervention videos were observed to describe and analyse the process and the effect of interventions. The results show that:(1)Object control skills of 5~6 years old children are close to a normal distribution. The overall level of object control skills is low, especially for the lowest scores in catching a tossed ball-one hand and throwing a ball.(2)There is a significant correlation between object control skills and executive function in 5-6 yesrs old children(p<0.01).Comparing with bilateral coordination and balance, the correlation coefficient between object control skills and the executive function is higher. There is a medium-intensity correlation between object control skills and inhibitory control(0.401,p<0.01),and a weak correlation between object control skills and visual working memory(0.253,p<0.05).However,object control skills are not significantly correlated with auditory working memory and cognitive flexibility.(3)After the interventions of object control group education related to basketball, the inhibitory control ability, visual working memory and cognitive flexibility of the experimental group children were significantly improved(p<0.001),indicating that object control group education can be effectively used to improve executive function of 5-6 years old children.(4)Through the implementation of object control group education, children in the experimental group mastered most of the simple motor skills in basketball, and object control skills of 5-6 years old children are significantly improved(p<0.001).The simple basketball skills have positive effects on children's general object control skills.
