Over the years,as China has become more and more involved in international affairs,the consolidation of international status and establishment of the numerous overseas Confucius Institutes has prompted more and more people to learn Chinese.In the past,the main teaching target were adults.However,more and more children are participating in the "Chinese fever" trend now.The trend of "ageing younger" has become increasingly prominent,and children are at a critical stage of language acquisition,so the teaching Chinese as a foreign language for children gradually attracts the great attention of experts and scholars,which requires the compilation of textbooks of teaching Chinese as a foreign language for children.Nevertheless,in view of the differences of children and adults in psychology and physiology,the writing of the textbook for the teaching Chinese as a foreign language needs to distinguish from adults' teaching materials and written for children's own characteristics specifically.This article compares Chinese and English two language-oriented textbooks for children.One is "Chinese Paradise" for teaching and learning Chinese,and the other is "Cambridge International Children's English" for teaching and learning English.This thesis is divided into five chapters: The first one is the introduction,which elaborates primarily the purpose and significance of this thesis?related literature review?objects and methods of the study;The second part is the comparison of the structure of the two textbooks,to compare overall structural framework from the macro perspective and compare the internal links of the texts from the micro perspective;The third chapter is the comparison of topics and cultural teaching;the fourth chapter is a detailed analysis of language elements,including the analysis of pronunciation ? vocabulary ? grammar and Chinese characters;Chapter five is the suggestion on the compilation of children's Chinese textbooks.Through the comparison of the two textbooks,it is found that the “Chinese Paradise” is slightly inferior.The design of the textbook isn't elaborate,the enjoyment of the textbook should be improved,the occurence of knowledge points needs to be strengthened and the cultural compliation should be improvedand,etc.Then I hope to improve the qualityof the textbooks' compilation and boost the development in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
