With the development of technology and the constant updating of educational concepts,it has been further recognized that the goal of education is to promote the development of students.Comprehensive development,includes not only the ability to learn and analyze,but also the ability to solve problems independently,to engage in teamwork,to come up with innovation and etc.The summative evaluation is commonly adopted in education to reflect the learners' status to a certain extent,but it cannot fully evaluate a student's learning performance.The evaluation based on formative way is thus used to give more comprehensive,diverse and targeted feedback.The periodic evaluation enables students to grasp their current learning situation with targeted face-to-face feedback,the students can thus realize their shortcomings that they have and would correct them in a timely manner.The comprehensive evaluation can reflect actual level of students' learning in all aspects,and it is beneficial to promote the establishment of learning self-confidence and learning interest.The summative evaluation focuses on the analysis of the results,less attention is paid to the learning process.Under this circumstance,study on “Impact of Formative Evaluation on Learning Motivation under Blended Learning Environment” was carried out by using the Moodle platform as an aiding learning platform,to explore the mechanism that formative evaluation has on students' learning motivation before and after the implementation of the formative evaluation,and to propose appropriate measures to promote students' learning motivation,which would contribute to an empirical reference for the evaluation of teaching in the future,and would facilitate the continuous improvements of teaching.This thesis reviews the present situation of learning motivation and formative evaluation by literature research and analyzes the influencing factors of learning motivation and designs a program of formative evaluation under blended learning environment by interviewing.Research was carried out under the Moodle Platform and the curriculum of "Multi-media Technology",the sophomore of this major was treated as the research object.After the validity test of the questionnaire,the students were asked to fill out the questionnaire to obtain the learners' learning motivation pretest results,the experiment was then performed as per the pretest results,the formative assessment was adopted as the main evaluation method in this study,and the final data were collected from learning platform,questionnaires,and interviews.The obtained data and other information was process by Excel and SPSS 20.0 to explore changes in student motivation before and after the implementation of formative evaluation.The results show that after the implementation,both internal motivation and external motivation are significantly enhanced,and external motivation has been improved more than the internal.As for the internal motivations,the “interest” is among the most that has been significantly improved.As for the external motivations,items of “feedback” and “others” that involve teacher feedback,peer feedback,and feedback of others,have been significantly improved due to the implementation of formative evaluation.The research shows that all types of motivation have a positive impact on students' learning,and the motivation of internal and external learning can be mutually transformed under certain conditions.The study also shows that formative evaluation facilitates a greater learning motivation under blended learning environment.And on this basis,formative evaluation method has been put forward to promote the improvement of learning motivation.
