| Under the current principal responsibility system,the principal plays a crucial role in the development of a school.The role of the principal’s management functions,the improvement of the quality of school education,and the creation of a campus culture atmosphere are not only determined by the principal’s powers,but also by how the principals operate these powers.This article attempts to depict the basic picture of the current primary school principals’ power operation from the perspective of power through a field survey of the working style of a rural primary school principal.The normal operation of the principal’s power must first implement the school’s autonomy in running schools.As a legal representative of a school,it is only when the school has the right to run a school that it is meaningful to discuss the power of the principal.If the school’s autonomy for running a school is compromised,then the principal’s powers,such as education and teaching rights,personnel management rights,school production and financial comprehensive management rights,public relations coordination rights,and school management rights,are all incomplete.The damage to the headmaster’s power is not only detrimental to the development of the school,but also to the teachers’ interests.At present,the operation of principals’ power mainly adopts strategies such as diverse obedience,dragging down words,ceremonies and meetings,information control,cadre appointment,lifting and punishment,surveillance,assessment and inspection.In the case of the external counterpart,the principal is mainly obeying and working to meet the expectations of superiors,presenting a distinct “weak” characteristic;using the various micro-power techniques to manage teachers and depriving teachers The autonomy of the entire school makes the entire school develop toward the desired goal.In such a situation,the school has fallen into a disciplined power network from top to bottom.The principal runs the power but is also disciplined by power.In order to surpass the power of discipline,it is necessary to start with both institutional and individual aspects.In terms of the system,the government must change its functions,from micro-management to macro-control,and implement school autonomy.On the personal front,principals should strengthen their own quality and accomplish professional development and lead the school to develop together. |
