A Study On The Content Of Primary School Sexuality Education Textbooks

With the improvement of modern material standard of living,the age of sexual maturation in our country is advancing.But the culture of "sexual silence" is deeply rooted in the Chinese primary school sexuality education.The urgent need of primary school students for sexuality education is in sharp contrast to the slow development of education.The lag of sexuality education and large amount of diverse sexual information inspires the curiosity of new generation pupil who lack necessary awareness and skills about the prevention of sexual assault,then offered chances for the criminals.But the long-waited sexuality education textbooks are controversial.Guidelines for Primary and Secondary Health Education and Guidelines for International Sexuality education Technology provide policy support and theoretical guidance for sexuality education textbooks.So what is the value of Cherish Life——Primary School Students Sexuality Education which based on the above documents.How does the textbooks construct all aspects of sexuality education according to the factors of realistic sexual assault cases?The author hope the study can provide reference for the preparation of sexuality education textbooks in China.By using literature study,this study first investigated the research status of sexuality education and some concerned textbooks at home and abroad.Then,though the investigation and analysis of sexual assault cases and sexual education,searching realistic demands and how to teach children sexuality education through books.Afterwards,the author used content analysis to analyze the breath,depth and rendering of Cherish Life——Primary School Students Sexuality Education.On the basis of above research,the author argued the content and controversy about sexuality education books and put forward some suggestions on the compilation of sexuality education books.Study found:Cherish Life——Primary School Students Sexuality Education tell students knowledge about the prevention of sexual assault,it doesn't blindly isolated prevention education content about sex,but regard sexual physiology as the basis,sexual morality as the core,supplemented by sexual psychology and sexual education of legal.The textbook set up comprehensive education system,pay attention to gender education,and train students to have a bidirectional personality,respect students' personal experience,the content of sexual education is rich,but the content arrangement is not clear enough.The illustrations are lively,but the text language is slightly boring,there are many kinds of practice exercises after class and lack of supporting materials.In addition,the author discusses the common controversies of sexuality education textbooks,such as whether contraception,sexual orientation and other contents have negative effects?Is it too explicit?Is it suitable for male and female students at the same time?Whether the double-sexual culture model can lead to the popularity of "gender reversal" etc.Based on the discussion and thinking of the research,the author puts forward relevant suggestions based on the actual situation of education in China,which is mainly as follows:1.Compiling the teaching material of sexual educartion under the guidance of unified curriculum standards.2.The content should adapt to the growth of students.3.Factors in sexual assault cases should be included.4.Paying the same attention to knowledge and skills.5.Stressing importance to the evaluation of sexual education textbooks.
