In order to handle the low efficiency phenomenon that appears during Chinese reading comprehension in high school,the author focuses on the strategy of teaching less and studying more.There are several researches and practice concerning this teaching ideal at home and abroad while the effects which are appropriate for Chinese reading comprehension in high school are not obvious.Students and teachers consume a large quantity of time in many districts and schools,which can't bring the improvement of the ability of reading comprehension.Although the requirements about high school students'reading ability are clearly stated in the new curriculum standard of high school Chinese language by the Ministry of Education,there is a wide gap between students' reading ability and the object.The terminal object of teaching is to let students learn how to learn and have the corresponding ability.In Chinese teaching process,teachers should change the phenomenon of teaching more and studying less.High school students can be exposed to a wide range of reading materials,improve the reading ability and attain satisfactory teaching results if teachers try to teach less and students study more.By combining the teaching practice and reflection with the outcomes of research and exchange,and referring to published studies and reference works,the author tries to explore the teaching less and studying more strategy in Chinese reading teaching in high school.Teaching less and studying more strategy does not mean teachers teach less than before or do not teach.Facing the low efficiency phenomenon in Chinese teaching process,this strategy focuses on finding some ways to reduce the time spending on class teaching,to manage to read reading materials,to develop the habit of reading,to cultivate the skills of reading.Under the guidance of this strategy,students are able to read after class,to enlarge their knowledge,and accumulate more information,to improve their Chinese comprehensive accomplishment.The way mentioned in this article mainly focuses on novel reading and prose reading in high school.Although it also applies for other genres,the samples talked about in the article are about teaching of novel and prose.The article explores five strategies of teaching less and studying more in high school Chinese reading teaching:(1).students have learning interest by correctly handling the relationship between teachers and students;(2).students can grasp the reading skills by exposing genre characters which the teachers should pay more attention to;(3).students are able to read more reading materials when the teachers integrate compulsory and elective teaching materials;(4).the teacher can organize and use guidance papers appropriately;(5).the schools can organize colorful activities to stimulate students' interests and accumulate after-class reading and reading materials.
