Mental health is an important part of each individual’s health.Mental health notonly affects the health of the body,but also an important indicator of the degree of individual happiness.With more and more deaf people entering the University,the study on the mental health of the deaf students has never been interrupted.On the basis of the previous research and actual experience,based on the process of the general questionnaire,the researchertook 307 deaf college students as the research object,compiled the questionnaire of social anxiety for the deaf students,then tested291 deaf students and interviewed 12 deaf students,in order to present the status of social anxiety of the deaf students.The study found that there are certain differences in social anxiety in different aspects of deaf students.There are significant differences in social anxiety on demographic background variables,and there are obvious deficiencies in the cognition of anxiety.The conclusions of this study are as follows:The questionnaire of social anxiety of the self-made deaf students consists of two sub questionnaires and four dimensions,one of which includes general social situationsdimension and act in front of the publicdimension,and the second sub questionnaire including the fear of negative evaluationdimension and the escape dimension.The internal consistency coefficient of each dimension is between 0.77 and 0.86,the internal consistency coefficient of the first sub questionnaire is 0.84,the internal consistency coefficient of the second sub questionnaire is 0.89;after three weeks,the retest reliability coefficient of each dimension is 0.77 to 0.85,and the retest reliability coefficient of two sub questionnaires is 0.83 and 0.90 respectively,indicating that the questionnaire has good internal consistency.The present situation of social anxiety of deaf students:(1).Among the various dimensions of social anxiety of the deaf students,the highest scores in front of the public,followed by the fear negative evaluation,the general social situation and the escape.(2)the social situations and feelings that most make deaf students feel anxiousinclude talking with listening teachers,speaking at large meetings,fear of showing tension in front of people,and fear of being alone with the opposite sex.There are significant differences in gender,age,grade,specialty and family monthly income of deaf students,and there are significant differences in parents’ hearing status and parents’ educational background.(4)the perception and degree of anxiety in the social situation,the anxiety caused by the general social situation is less and the duration is short,the situation in front of the public can cause the anxiety of the overwhelming majority of the deaf students;most of the deaf students will recover quickly from social anxiety,few of the deaf students will continue for a long time and the intensity is higher;only a few deaf students can speak the concept of "anxiety",other deaf cannot be described clearly or no awareness of the word itself.(5)the causes of social anxiety: negative coping style,external instability and uncontrollable attribution,negative life events,and higher excitement,they are all the reasons of increasing social anxiety.(6)All the deaf students have said social support is very important,and most concerned about the social support for education and employment.
