With the continuous development of information technology,people’s thinking concepts,life,and learning methods are constantly being refreshed in the new media environment,and the field of higher education is undergoing profound changes in the digital wave.As the main body of education and teaching,the professional role played by university teachers is very different from that under the traditional media environment.Not only does it impose higher requirements on its own abilities,but also its teaching methods,professional status,social expectations and other aspects are quietly change.What are the links between the new media environment and the professional roles of university teachers? Compared with the traditional teaching environment,what kind of opportunities and challenges university teachers face in working life,and what are the reasons behind them,and what must be achieved by themselves? Quality to complete the transformation of professional roles,attention to these issues is the focus of this article.This research cuts in from the research background of the topic of “Transformation of University Teachers’ Professional Roles in the New Media Age”;first,it interprets the role theory and the connotation of university teachers’ professional roles,and sorts out the evolution of teacher roles in different periods;Based on the characteristics of the new media era constructed by media fusion,artificial intelligence,equalization,and mobile internet,the social background and external environment of university teacher professional role transformation are explained.Then the core chapter of this article is entered and investigated.The research method examines the perceptions of university teachers in terms of professional comprehension,teaching methods,social status,and self-expectation in the new media era.It analyzes the reasons for the need for changes in the professional roles of university teachers from the perspective of the new media’s impact on university teachers in China.Finally,on the basis of the findings of the investigation and the characteristics of the new media environment,a strategy for the transformation of university teachers’ professional roles was proposed: On the micro level,the role consciousness of university teachers needs to be changed first,and education concepts that adapt to the times must be established.For lifelong learning,Service-based teaching philosophy and critical thinking;a full range of student leader,multicultural integration,technical coordinator and humanities,media and public in the field who discernment.On the macro level,it is necessary for society,universities,and media to work together to improve the system,strengthen the training of teachers,and establish information guidance mechanisms to promote the protection of institutional mechanisms so that university teachers can demonstrate their value.Hope that through this study,can cause the social from all walks of life to new media attention under the background of university teachers’ professional role transformation,is good for university teachers to adapt to the challenges of digital wave,better shoulder the responsibility of their own.
