The Teaching Proficiency Through Reading and story-telling method was introduced in the 1990s by Blaine ray,a Spanish teacher in California.The theory is based on the the "Total Physical Response" of the psychologist James Asher and and the second language acquisition of the linguist Stephen Krashen.With a large number of "comprehensible input" and "circular questions" as the core,the teaching method can train students' listening and speaking ability.The introduction of new information through the circular questions spiral promotes the development of the story plot.Next,text reading and free writing can exercise the students'speaking,reading and writing.Teachers and students interact with each other in a friendly and lively atmosphere,so as to realize the fluent use of language in class and improve their listening,speaking,reading and writing skills.TPRS let students acquire language naturally in the unconscious state,comply with the requirement of Thailand for the primary stage of Chinese learning.In this study,TPRS teaching method was applied to Thailand middle school Chinese teaching practice to verify its effectiveness.First of all,through face-to-face communication with Thai teachers and students,the author preliminarily found out the problems in Chinese teaching in the five schools and focused on them.Then,the feasibility of applying TPRS teaching method to Thai middle school Chinese teaching is discussed.According to the TPRS teaching principles,teaching steps,rigorous teaching design,presents the concrete teaching case,show the teaching process,to provide TPRS teaching Chinese as a foreign language teacher an operating framework can be used for reference.In the process of applied research,selected two classes,respectively using TPRS teaching method and traditional teaching method.Through the comparison and students' final grade classroom observation test contrast and student questionnaire survey to verify the effectiveness of TPRS teaching middle school Chinese teaching in Thailand.It is found that TPRS teaching method is effective in Thai middle school Chinese teaching,which can improve students' interest in learning,cultivate their discourse awareness of Chinese expression,improve their comprehensive application ability of Chinese,improve their oral and reading fluency,and achieve good memory effect.On the basis of this,it puts forward reflections and Suggestions on the implementation of TPRS teaching method from three aspects of teaching materials,teachers and classroom teaching.
