Since Amartya Sen elaborated a theory that assesses and measures a person’s standard of living by the view of capability,the capability approach has become a new theory frame of justice in recent decades.One of Sen’s most important successors,Nussbaum,aim to introduce the concept of capability into the discussion of social justice,to construct a complete Theory of Justice.This new theoretical paradigm provides a new way to solve the problem of contemporary social justice.In the field of economics,the capability approach,as an important alternative to the mainstream economic framework,for conceptualizing and evaluating human wellbeing and development,has had a huge impact and has spawned a research agenda in many related areas.At the practical level,the Human Development report and the Human Development Index,guided by the capability approach,are receiving more attention and recognition around the world.Compared with the traditional economic data measurement methods,they have their own unique value for how to deal with development and poverty.Such an ideological path,which has achieved fruitful results,is of great practical significance to the development of our country at the present stage.First,this paper want to summarize the basic characteristics of the ability approach from a comprehensive perspective by comparing the two schools of thought in the framework of the capability approach.However,the ability approach is a fruitful theoretical system.The theoretical framework summed up by Robbins can categorize all kinds of theoretical achievements,so as to broaden our understanding of the rich connotation of capability approach.This paper will introduce this framework and explore the ideological core of the ability approach.Because of its rich connotation that there are many problems worth discussing in theory.In this paper,four problems which can best reflect the theoretical difficulties and theoretical significance of the ability approach are discussed.1.Should the philosophical position or the democratic position be used in the choice of competence;2.The relationship between the concept of capability and the concept of human rights;3.How to bring the study of group and social structure into CA;4.The rationality and existing problems of ability as a kind of justice theory or equality theory.Through the discussion of the above problems,we can try to sum up the guiding significance of the ability approach to the realistic development of our country.
