In a certain sense,Marx’s view of productivity is the cornerstone of historical materialism.Productivity is the material basis for the development of human history.Starting with the background of Marx’s productivity view, this paper analyzes and summarizes the development stages and main categories of Marx’s productivity view, and discusses its important value and significance. This paper consists of four parts. The first chapter discusses the social conditions of other European countries and the social environment of Germany during the industrial revolution, and analyzes how Marx gradually formed his own scientific view of productivity in the process of inheriting and criticizing the productivity theories of classical political economists Adam Smith and David Ricardo,Liszt, the representative of the national economic school, and Hegel, the German classical philosopher. The second chapter starts from Marx’s original text and analyzes the transformation of Marx’s concept of productivity in his works according to time logic, focusing on the Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844(hereinafter referred to as Manuscripts),Holy Family,German Ideology(hereinafter referred to as Forms),Communist Manifesto(hereinafter referred to as Communist Manifesto)and Capital. The third chapter discusses the basic content of Marx’s concept of productivity, and analyzes the historicity and objectivity, practicality and materiality of productivity with the theoretical concept of historical materialism. At the same time,it analyzes three elements of productivity: subjective element, objective element and intermediary element. In the process of discussing productivity structure,it is divided into material productivity and spiritual productivity, social productivity and personal productivity, labor productivity and natural productivity according to the material entity of material itself, personal and social perspectives, and many other factors in turn.At the same time,it analyzes the relationship between the concept of productivity, society and people from the perspective of scientific socialism. The fourth chapter analyzes the contemporary value of Marx’s productivity view from two aspects of theoretical and practical significance. The theoretical significance points out the guiding role of productivity view on Xi Jinping’s socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era;In the practical significance part,it combines Marx’s view of productivity with the Sino-US trade dispute that China is facing today, analyzes the methodological role that the view of productivity plays in it,and analyzes the new major social contradiction between the growing needs of a better life of our people and unbalanced and inadequate development from the viewpoint of productivity.Marx’s concept of productive forces has a far-reaching development prospect and plays an important role in promoting China’s socialist construction. It is of great significance in both practice and theory and is the guiding theory of China’s economic development;Similarly,Marx’s concept of productivity also provides scholars with a broader research category.
