Intergenerational Interaction Of Stepfamily From The Perspective Of Family System Theory

With the social progress,the concept of marriage and family has also changed,and family relations have undergone many unprecedented changes.Reorganization of the family environment and members makes its internal relations more complex.Intergenerational interaction also presents more contradictions and conflicts,reflecting the characteristics of the special structure family in the new era.Among them,the life experience and growth of stepchildren,as the offspring who passively brought in the stepfamily,should be took seriously.Based on qualitative research and family system theory,this study explores the patterns to reconstruct the intergenerational interaction and relationship between intergeneration.By interviewing 16 offspring and analyzing qualitative materials,then taking the concept of the triangle in family system theory as the framework.The roles of parents,children and brothers and sisters in reconstructed families are regarded as the interactive triangle.Referring to the level of chronic anxiety and self-differentiation in interaction,the following discoveries are summarized and analyzed:First,there are many problems and challenges in the process of family restructuring,including unbalanced intergenerational interaction;emotional alienation between two generations;educational difficulties of stepparents and pressures on peer relationships.Secondly,under the interweaving of emotions and conflicts,the intergenerational interaction of stepfamilies has evolved into an ideal harmony type,and also differentiated into the type of estrangement,antagonism and contradiction.Further analysis shows that:returning balance of intergenerational relationship,role integration of family member and self-awakening of offspring are the ways to restructure the healthy reconstruction of family inter-generational relations.After discussing above problems,evolution and reconstructing ways of the stepfamily inter-generational interaction,this study finally returns to the various needs of those offspring,and then analyses the key factors of the construction of harmonious intergenerational relationship:including emphasizing the subjectivity of children in the relationship;transforming pain into support power and recognizing the essence of parent-child relationship.Based on this,this paper then explores the problem definition of intergeneration relations restructuring and specific intervention strategies from the perspective of social work theory,and puts forward that family problems should be assessed based on offspring;the commonalities of children restructuring should be excavated and the problems should be grasped through dynamic interaction.In view of the corresponding problems,this study finally explores the specific goals and strategies of therapeutic,preventive and developmental social work intervention in the fields of social work for children,adolescents,family,school and community social work.
