Study Of Restoring Religious Policy After The Reform And Opening-up Policy

After the founding of the People's Republic of China,the party's religious policy was gradually perfected in practice,but it was seriously deviated during the cultural revolution.After the third plenary session of the eleventh central committee of the communist party of China(CPC),the religious work was put into full play,and the party and the government did a great deal of effective work in implementing the party's religious policies,thus ensuring the religious freedom of the masses.Based on the historical documents,this paper sorts out the development of the party's religious policy since the founding of the People's Republic of China,especially the comprehensive restoration of religious work after the third plenary session of the eleventh central committee.In the first seven years after the founding of the People's Republic of China,the party and the government eliminated feudalism and imperialism in religion by reforming religious system,and enshrined"freedom of religious belief' in the constitution.From the anti-rightist struggle to the "cultural revolution",religious policies were increasingly "left",and the correct religious policies were totally denied.After 1978,the party and the government began to correct the mistakes of the "cultural revolution".In this historical context,the party and the government started to restore religious work.The restoration of religious work involved four aspects--reaffirmed the importance of a policy of religious freedom,enriched the religious theory,improved the constitution's provisions on freedom of religious belief,implemented the Party's policy toward the freedom of religious belief.By the time of the 13th national congress of the communist party of China(CPC)in 1987,the restoration of religious work was basically finished.In the past decade,the party and the government have done a lot of effective work to implement the policy of freedom of religious belief.But in different regions,the emphasis on implementing policies was different.Taking Jinan and Urumqi as examples,in order to meet the material conditions for religious believers to participate in religious life,the two cities have done a lot of work in the implementation of religious real estate policies.At the same time,Jinan and Urumqi implemented the policy by resuming patriotic religious groups,training religious professionals and resuming normal religious activities,and strengthening the education of religious people according to their local conditions.There are five main experiences to implement religious policy in this period--constantly enriching and developing the religious theories,strengthening the party's leadership over religious work,consolidating and developing the patriotic united front with religious circles,improving the religious legal system and exploring appropriate measures to implement the religious policy.
