With the acceleration of urbanization, more and more migrants have moved to metropolis from their household registration area so that they can find jobs with higher economic benefits and receive a better living environment. However, they face new challenges in the complex urban life, which puts higher demands on the management of local government. Therefore, exploring the problems about incompatibility encountered by migrants in urban life and proposing corresponding solutions can help them adapt to urban life better. At the same time, these measures can help promote the better development of urban economy and maintain social harmony and stability. As one of the important cities in the northwest,Urumqi attracts a great deal of redundant labour.Secondly,as a multi-ethnic gathering area,it also absorbed many migrants who are ethnic minorities. Therefore, the paper takes ethnic migrants and the Han nationality in Urumqi as a research subject. It selects the research perspective of social adaptation. There is a comparative study between migrants of ethnic minority and Han nationality from the economic, social and psychological dimensions through the method of distributing questionnaires. The migrants have difficulties in adapting to society in economy, daily life and psychology. There are obvious differences between the migrants of ethnic minority and the Han nationality. In general, the social adaptation of the Han nationality is better than that of ethnic migrants. There are some differences in gender composition, age distribution, and personal characteristics of marital status and educational levels. There is little difference between the migrants of ethnic minority and the Han nationality in terms of gender composition. The data show that the number of female migrants is increasing. In terms of age distribution, the migrants of ethnic minority and Han nationality are concentrated in the age group of 26 to 34 years old,and the age distribution of ethnic minority migrants shows a trend of younger age. However, the impact of age growth for the Han nationality is not large.Data on marital statusshow that there are more unmarried groups of migrants of ethnic minority. As for the Han nationality, they prefer moving by family. At the level of education, the educational level of the migrants of ethnic minority is relatively low. With the increase of the level of education, the proportion of the migrants of ethnic minority is decreasing.Economic adaptation is reflected in differences in salary, average working hours and housing conditions. There are numerous low-income people in migrants of ethnic group, and their salary is lower than that of the Han nationality in general. The migrants of ethnic minority and Han nationality have a longer average working hours per day,and the proportion of legal working hours exceeding 8 hours is relatively large. In the choice of housing, the migrants of ethnic minorities and Han people tend to rent a property, while there are more Han people who can buy a property in the city.Social adaption reflects the proportion of relatives in the city, the time of working and living in the city, the obstacles to integration into the city, and the choice of the living community.Whether it is an ethnic minority or a Han migrant, most of them have relatives in the city. The migrants of the Han nationality can work and live longer in the city, and the migrants of ethnic minority tends to be short-lived.Ethnic minority migrants believe that the main obstacle to integration into the city is that there is no acquaintances and religious beliefs. The Han migrant population is more concerned about the impact of government policies on urban life. The social interaction of migrants is limited to more familiar groups. Therefore, the minority people and the Han people are more inclined to live in the community with more people in the choice of the community, and the minority people are more inclined.Psychological level as the highest status of social adaptation,it has the greatest impact on migrants. It needs the adaptation of the economic and social life as the basis, and it reflects in the bad psychological emotions, urban residents' attitudes, the willingness to communicate with the urban residents and their sense of identity.Migrants tend to have bad feelings such as inferiority and injustice in the life of urbansociety. The degree of acceptance of urban residents can play an important role in their ability to adapt to urban life. The Han people is generally considered to compare the attitudes of urban residents friendly,so they have a higher willingness to interact with urban residents, and minority migrants believe that the attitude of urban residents is relatively cold.Minority and Han migrants think they are different from urban residents,so they have a difficulty in finding their own position in urban life.Through the analysis of the above three dimensions, the social adaptation of the migrant is a long-term and complex process, which requires the formulation of reasonable and feasible countermeasures to solve.Firstly, the government should provide a good social environment for the migrants and pay attention to the opinion guiding role of the public media. At the same time, the authority needs to focus on improving the survival skills of the ethnic migrants.Secondly,it is necessary to strengthen communication and exchanges among the migrants and promote their understanding and trust.Experts from society should promptly conduct psychological counselling on migrants to eliminate bad emotions. Finally, migrants as important forces in urban modernization, the government should pay more attention to their living conditions.Only in this way can a stable urban migrants inflow provide adequate labours for the economic development of the city.In addition, the adaptation status of migrants is also of great significance to ethnic areas. It can not only deepen understanding among many ethnic groups, but also help build harmonious and stable ethnic relations.
