The Study Of Migrant Children’s Social Adaptation In Shanxi Province

With increasingly wide concern for migrant workers, the ability of their children’s adaptation to city life gradually comes into researchers’view. At present, we research the issue mainly from these areas:t he current living situation, family education, learning ability and mental emotion of migrant workers’children, including the survival and development of children’s schools. And we also analyzes the reasons that impede the children’adaptive ability. Based on previous research results and Shanxi province-circumstance, the thesis studies children’s adaptive ability in depth. It provides theoretical and practical application for migrant workers’social problems and something like that.By analyzing children’s adaptive ability, we learn that even though these children live in cities and face modern urban life, their lifestyle still remains rural level, which means they never really integrate into urban society whether it is from living conditions, friends relationship or living habits. As for the educational aspect, their educational standard is generally low. Also there is a serious academic delay, leaving school earlier and put into working. Frequent change of residence causes the learning level relatively lower than urban children. As for the metal emotional aspect, they have a kind of ambivalence that they are eager to integrate into the city but fear to be rejected. The more they contact with urban children, the more obviously they recognize themselves rural identification. Of course, the domestic violence has a serious impact on children’metal health.The thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter discusses the background of the thesis, research aims, summaries of previous research results and the methods of researching.The second chapter discusses the current status of social adaptation of migrant workers’children in Shanxi Province mainly from three aspects: adaptation of social life, adaptation of learning and adaptation of psychological emotion.The third chapter analyzes the reason why workers’children cannot adapt to the urban life very well, which is from the following aspects:the impact of dual social system, the impact of underestimating farmers, the impact of migrant workers’families and the characteristics of children’s physical and mental development.The fourth chapter discusses the measures and suggestions to improve the ability of social adaptation in current Shanxi circumstance. These measures and suggestions include the integrated development of urban and rural society, the establishment of various social educational system and workers’ harmonious family atmosphere, and the establishment of interventional system of improving the social adaptive ability.
