Middle school students are in the initial stage of young people's physical and mental development,which is the future of the country and the hope of the nation.Volunteer service is an important form to promote middle school students to participate in social practice,and continuous volunteer service is an important standard to measure the quality of volunteer service.This study is a qualitative study which aim to Beijing 12 high school students volunteer,through interviews,volunteers in the important events,details,in the process of service,excavated the motivation of middle school students to participate in volunteer service types and structure,through the analysis of the interview data,the process of middle school students to participate in volunteer service is divided in the two cases:for the first time to participate in and continue to participate.Initial participation refers to volunteers' first participation in voluntary service,and continuous participation refers to volunteers' persistence in voluntary service after participating in voluntary service.The influencing factors of initial participation and continuous participation are concluded.The relationship between participation motivation and continuous volunteer service process is emphatically analyzed,and relevant reference suggestions are provided for schools and teachers.It is found that the motivation of middle school students to participate in voluntary service falls into three types: the traditional motivation with responsibility as the axis,the modern motivation with development as the axis,and the post-modern motivation with happiness as the axis;The motivation of participating in voluntary service is single structure and mixed structure.The influence of elders,job assignment satisfaction and activity organization satisfaction are the factors that affect middle school students to participate in voluntary service for the first time.The factors influencing volunteers' continuous participation in volunteer service include the intimacy between volunteers and service objects,the integration of volunteer groups and the self-improvement and development of volunteers.The study found that the stronger the traditional motivation was,the more likely the volunteers were to establish close relationships with the service objects during the continuous volunteer service.The stronger the modern motivation is,the more helpful it is for middle school students to improve themselves in the process of continuous volunteer service.The stronger the post-modernity motivation is,the more helpful it is for middle school students to integrate into the volunteer group in the process of continuous volunteer service,and then continue to volunteer service.Therefore,in the process of middle school students participating in volunteer service,we should attach importance to the guidance and strengthening of middle school students' motivation of volunteer service.In the process of continuing to participate in volunteer service,we should pay attention to its influencing factors,ideological and political educators and schools should do the corresponding measures to promote more middle school students to continue to participate in volunteer service.
