With the deepening degree of aging and the continuous development of pension services, the emergence of institutional pension relieves the pressure of social pension. However, the social support network of the elderly in pension institutions is weak, and the needs for love and sense of belonging,self-esteem and self-realization are not well satisfied. As a result, the proportion of the elderly who suffer from depression in pension institutions rises gradually, and the degree of depression keeps increasing. At present, the academic research on the depression of the elderly mainly focuses on nursing and psychology, and the treatment methods are mainly drugs and psychotherapy. There are few studies on the depression of the elderly from the perspective of social work. Therefore, how to intervene in the depression of the elderly from the perspective of social work, promote the reconstruction of social support network for the elderly, and adapt to the life in old-age care institutions is still an urgent problem to be solved.Based on maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, this study takes love, sense of belonging,self-esteem and self-realization as intervention approaches, and the supportive group as intervention model to plan the group’s work plan.Through team process assessment and result assessment to evaluate the general effect of the intervention group,at the same time, the experimental group and control group before and after the test GDS score for independent samples t-test and paired samples t test, found that based on maslow’s hierarchy of needs team work service for Q depression in the elderly pension institutions reduce a significant positive effect.Firstly, based on the social support theory, this study conducted problem assessment and demand assessment for the experimental group members.Secondly, based on the evaluation results, the needs of love and belonging among the elderly, family members and caregivers were involved, the needs of self-esteem were involved from the way of self-respect,and the needs of self-realization were involved from improving the sense of acquisition and autonomy of the elderly. Finally, based on the GDS scale and structured interview data, the intervention process, group change status, group intervention effect and intervention angles were evaluated. In the evaluation of intervention effect, the depression mood of the experimental group improved after group activities, and the average GDS score decreased significantly. The GDS of the control group showed a small change, and the average GDS score increased slightly. This indicates that love and sense of belonging,self-esteem and self-realization in maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory can be incorporated into the planning and implementation of group activities when group work is used to intervene the depression of the elderly. To sum up,on the one hand, based on the above practice process, the following conclusions are drawn: 1.The enhancement of social support network is conducive todepression relief;2.On the other hand, based on the research conclusions and limitations, this study puts forward Suggestions from the practical level and the institutional level respectively.
