Research On Influencing Factors Of Migrant Workers’ Settlement Behavior From The Perspective Of Urban Characteristics

The reform of the household registration system is a key step to promote urbanization.With the rise of new urbanization as a national strategy,the reform of the household registration system has become the focus attention of the Central and State Council,local governments,and people from all walks of life.Therefore,on the basis of formulating urbanization goals,the State Council has repeatedly proposed and revised the “advancement of new urbanization construction” opinions,and implemented differentiated settlement strategies based on different types of cities.Although some progress has been made in the reform of the household registration system,problems such as "willingness to settle down" and "cannot settle in" still exist,and the problem that it is difficult for migrant workers to settle down is becoming increasingly prominent.As a “land transfer” to rural household registration of rural migrant workers,the city must have many key factors that affect the behavior of migrant workers.Therefore,from the perspective of urban characteristics,the influencing factors of the migrant workers’ settlement behavior are deeply explored,and the mechanism of the influence factors on the settlement behavior of migrant workers is explored.At the same time,the effect of different types of cities on the influencing factors is compared and analyzed.On the one hand,it helps to grasp the influencing mechanism of the migrant workers’ settlement behavior from the perspective of urban characteristics.On the other hand,it also proposes several policy suggestions for further promoting new urbanization construction.This study selected a total of 76 migrant workers from different industries in Jiangsu Province for in-depth interviews.On this basis,the concept model of "the influencing factors of migrant workers’ behavior in the perspective of urban characteristics" was constructed in conjunction with the qualitative research paradigm,and a nationwide questionnaire survey was conducted on the status of migrant workers’ settlement.A total of 1,618 effective questionnaires were collected.On this basis,firstly,the reliability and validity of the questionnaire were tested.Secondly,AMOS 17.0 was used to model the conceptual model,and the influencing factors of urban characteristics on the settlement behavior were explored.Finally,using SPSS to compare and analyze the settlement behaviors of migrant workers in five types of cities,and to explore the rules affecting the behavior of migrant workers in different types of cities.The main conclusions of this study are:(1)The results of qualitative research show that the factors that influence the migrant workers’ settlement behavior from the perspective of urban characteristics include urban stress,urban socio-economic development,urban social integration,migrant worker children’s school entrance policy and household registration policy publicity..(2)The results of the fitting of the conceptual model from the perspective of the whole city show that except for the urban pressure that does not have a significant effect,the influencing factors from the perspective of the other city features have a significant impact on the settlement behavior.(3)A comparative study of the influencing factors of the migrant workers’ settlement behavior from the perspective of their urban characteristics in different types of cities found that: In all types of cities,the degree of integration of migrant workers in local cities and government propaganda on household registration can all improve the settlement behavior of migrant workers.The probability of implementation has a positive effect;in megacities and megacities,migrant workers tend to choose to enter the city’s work and life in better social and economic development;only in megacities,the policy for school children of migrant workers settles migrant workers There are impact effects,although educational resources in megacities tend to be allocated to groups with local accounts,and migrant workers tend to settle in cities in order to have good education for their children in the cities.Based on this,in order to explore the mechanism of the influencing factors of migrant workers’ settlement behavior from the perspective of urban characteristics,this study not only explores the influencing factors of urban characteristics in the overall city,but also explores the influencing factors of the migrant workers’ settlement behavior in different types of cities.Differences and laws,as well as suggestions for promoting the settlement of migrant workers,provide some theoretical support for further advancing the policy of urbanization.
