As the number and negative impact of left-behind children are increasing,the problem of left-behind children has gradually become the focus of public attention.Solving this problem is of great importance to the healthy growth and harmonious family of left-behind children as well as the sustainable development of society.This paper chose Meizhou as the research location of rural left-behind children.There are 5.5 million Hakka people living in Meizhou.However,the slowly development of economic and unoptimistic employment situation impel young people to go away from home to work and earn money for family living.In 2016,the number of left-behind children in eight counties(cities and districts)in Meizhou exceeded 133,000,accounting for 29.4% of 45.21 million students in primary school and middle school.To better study the problem of left-behind children,the survey was conducted in central primary school of Tanxia Town in Wuhua County,experimental school of Zhourui Town in Dabu County and Jingyi middle school(nine-year school)in Meixian District.These three schools located in the corner of county,whose economic development is relatively backward and left-behind children have large number and concentrated distribution.There are 440 left-behind children in these three schools,accounting for36.39% of the total school population of 1209.Through literature analysis,questionnaire survey,interview and other methods,this paper comprehensively grasped the status of the number,distribution,education,life,psychology and safety of left-behind children in Meizhou.It is found that there are many problems existed in left-behind children,such as the loss of family affection,the administration breach,the loss of education and the loss of social support.The reasons of these problems were analyzed and the corresponding suggestions and countermeasures were put forward.It is the common responsibility offamily,government,school and society to solve the problem of left-behind children in rural areas.The responsibility of family guardianship should be strengthened according to law.Meanwhile,the security management,supervision and education responsibilities of the primary government and schools should be implemented.It is important for social forces to participate in the care and protection of left-behind children.Multi-party cooperation is needed to work together to create a healthy growing environment for left-behind children.
